Tenerife: Ride from Playa Las Americas to Mount Teide (highest road pass)
I hired a bike from
Bike Point Tenerife. I hired a 54cm (M) Focus Pro Disc Paralane 105 bike which had a 50/34 172.5mm crankset and a 11sp 11/32 cassette. I wished I'd taken my 172.5mm Stages left crank as it woudl have fitted perfectly. I took my own SPD pedals and MTB shoes too.
I carried a 750ml bottle and a 450ml bottle on the bike.
Great ride and I used a lot of the 32 ring on the cassette!
Elapsed time - 5:02:21
I stopped at Vilaflor to top up my water bottle with 500ml of water. I also grabbed a Twix and munched it down. I then didn't stop until I got to the start of the Mount Teide trekking trailhead at ~2400m altitude. I had a ~10min stop there and ate some grub and water before heading back.
The descent was a joy!
HR log went a little nuts on the start of the descent.
