Running (easy) 50:00 [1] 6.5 mi (7:42 / mi)

This was an easy run in the cold again. I struggled through it after stepping on something earlier in the day and stripping the skin off of the arch on my right foot. After too long it was pretty easy to run, but it got sore again after the run. I treated it and wrapped it up again after the run, and later in the evening it was feeling ok.

I did my progressive tempo run after a two mile warm up with my girlfriend. I did it outside, so it was a challenge to keep track of the time. I started at a 7:30 mile pace and ran each mile after so that it felt a lot faster. My last mile was a 6:50.

I did an easy run with my girlfriend. I feel kinda guilty that I don't run all that much on the days that I go with her, but every now and then she just needs a training partner to get her going. But I really enjoy running with her, so it makes the extremely slow pace worthwhile.

I ran with my girlfriend again, so the pace was a little slower than normal. Good recovery day however.

I did my unstructured fartlek today, and it felt really good. I really enjoyed this run because the hard parts of the run helped break up the monotony that sometimes comes about from running, and the unstructured part helped me to run tough whenever I wanted to. I mixed in tough parts on downhill, uphill, flat, with wind, without wind, and long and short. It was fun just doing whatever I wanted to when I wanted to. Great workout.

I had to do another day of travelling today, so I only got in a quick 3 mile run on a treadmill. Was really hoping for more than that however. At night I did a core strengthening workout that's on a dvd from the K-State track/XC coach.
