M21A: 6th/11 + 11'07"

Chasing start, starting 50" behind the 3rd guy. Immediately on the slight uphill I felt I had no power in the legs. Probably pushed to hard yesterday and now paying the price. But I was still satisfied. The goal was not to end on the podium but to gain motivation, improve my shape and get some confidence in my orienteering skills.

Hoped that I could push all the way on a middle distance. Started off really fast, immediately taking the lead. Lost 30" on the 5th control. Then I had a really clean race and ok feeling for my shape. Always trying to push up the hills because I knew I was doing a great race. Was feeling really tired in the end, making another 30" mistake but I kept pushing because I knew it was still a good race.

Tried to push a bit harder but was still having a really tough time on the uphills, about 3'30" lost in total so the 1st place wasn't possible.

Not a really good running feeling, walking uphill and so on.
Some small misses and also 2' lost with a bad routechoice. In total about 5' lost.

Note

Driving from Prague to Vienna, walking around for a few hours, another 4h drive to Mosovce (Slovakia) where we arrived at the camping.

Running around in Prague, quite some big hills.
Overall tiredness from the long trip and body had to get into running mode again after the festival last week.
