Orienteering 20:00 [2] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Going with Masha on the warm-up course at McMaster University. She is promising to do great on the course today.

Orienteering 10:00 [4] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)

Running warm-up course in reverse at higher speed to get used to the map.

Road run 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Doing some more of warmup run before the start.

Road run (cooldown) 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Orienteering race 16:45 [5] *** 3.2 km (5:14 / km) +15m 5:07 / km
spiked:17/18c

NAOC Sprint. Started first and fooled everyone by taking left route :) While holding map upside down at the start I saw through the map the general direction of the line going from the start in this direction so took full speed right from the start. Right variant might be couple-three seconds faster. Was doing good up until control 9 right in front of the start area where went into the wrong alley about 10 m before the control. Lost about 35-40 seconds while regaining control which is eternity in the sprint. Lost another 5 or so seconds on 10th as it was surrounded by olive (non-crossable) garden and race official there pointed me that I can not cross. At this speed it was almost impossible to see olive color and distinguish it from just green. Looks like I need glasses or something. I wonder how many went straight and didn't noticed it. Otherwise, it was uneventful to the end of the race. Loosing may be seconds there and here.

Very nice race with plenty of route choices and wonderful organization. It was fun to run through the crowds at some of the controls. Especially #5 by the bus stop where ~100 people were boarding the bus :)

16:00 was quite achieveable but I wonder how to take off another 30 seconds to try to beat these young boys :)
