Rest day, unplanned. Bad head cold, almost feels like a precursor to the flu, couldn't sleep very well. It was raining hard, so I might not have ran if I felt well.

22 deg. Started at 2:50 am Ran Beach Lake loop (Torry rd-Hartman rd-Butternut Flats rd-Route 652-Route 6-Brook rd and home) + small out-and-back on Route 6. Struggled, legs were tired, left achilles was sore on and off during the run...Feels like I'm starting to get a cold.

4:35 am; 15 deg. flurrying; route-around block, LaTourette way + 0.5 mile out and back on Daniels rd. Felt very good, took it easy, but no pain or discomfort in left ankle. Got spooked by coyotes howling near Uncle Paul's-they were very close and got quiet immediately when I turned my headlamp on...yikes!

Watchung Winter 50k...started race in teens, warmed up into twenties. Gatorade got slushy on first lap, fine for other 2 laps. Left knee started hurting on second lap. Struggled on third lap...muscle/knee/ankle pain below the waist, side stitch and one light-headed spell. Overall I met my sub 6 hour goal, but felt that I was undertrained for the race.
