Adventure Racing race 2:22:00 [3]

As usual a very nice race - Thanks to Kinetic Gear! :)

Weather didnt play along, was so cold I couldnt tie my own shoe laces in transition... But had loads of fun with Vicky Wagner, unfortunately we forgot to punch the one point, and got dsq'd. Sad part was that we did go past the point for sure and we had more than 30mins lead on the next ladies team. :(

Format was the best ever, all points in any order. Just loved this, as no groups or bundles and forces better navigation and route choices.

First leg mountain bike for around 8km.
Then special task - netball through hoop.
Second leg a short run through the school 1.2km
Third leg mountain bike for around 9km.
Last leg a run again of about 7km with a paddle leg around Emmarentia dam (1.2km) and a special task at the firestation (use of firehose and slide down pole three stories high).

(Distances all dependant on route choice. Although discussing routes with other people after the race, I think we made a couple of excellent choices)

Got on my bike in time to have a nice cycle around Randjesfontein before it got dark. At least with winter solstice here our days will get longer again soon :)

At The Gym next to work.

Today we focussed a lot on upper body, doing this with weights while on top of a gym ball. Only managed to fall of once :) Today I realised just how weak my arms are - the moment of truth was when I wondered if there are smalller weights than the 1kg weights Ive been struggling with.

Easy 6km Time Trail route at Irene running club.

Nice to run with other people just back from comrades, listening to all the war stories. Cant believe so many of them are back on the road again, already planning their next big thing. This running thing might indeed be addictive!

Due to the lovely traffic we had I only got home after sunset, so couldnt go riding. Decided to put my old Schwinn on the trainer and do some spinning.

Did a nice mix of easy, fast and standing.

Hiking 10:00 [3]

After spinning, loaded the 15kg pack on my back and hiked up and down our one flight of stairs.

At first I thought that this was a bit easy, but after two minutes my legs realised what I was doing to them. At the end of the 10mins they felt like jello. But my mind was sooo bored, should maybe try this with an iPod next time.
