Note

This was a definite red-letter day. I had my 6-month checkup with the oncologist, and he pronounced me normal. So now i can start planning the rest of my life, or at least the next 6 months, which is going to be pretty special.

So in the afternoon, I did some power jumps, and lifted weights, and it was enough to make me sore the next day.

Run/Walk 57 [2] 6.0 mi (10 / mi)

Only my second run since 2010 began. Very cold, 32 degrees, with a hellish wind. Did my usual run at Watkins Mill. Probably ran more the first 2/3, and walked more the last 1/3. I did breathe well.

Orienteering race 1:00 [3] ***
spiked:4/9c

My first orienteering event of the year. Did the Green course at Monkey Mountain. My plan was to go slow, not make stupid mistakes, and stay on the map.

I pretty much accomplished my plan. I could have done better on a few controls, but I did know where I was on the map. Going from 1 to 2, I should have pace counted more--I probably wouldn't have had to climb in and out of as many gullies. Also, on 3 I should have aimed off to the left instead of the right. While I found it ok, it would have been faster on the left. Also, I should have pace counted going from 6 to 7, and stayed on the trail longer. Still, I'm pleased at this point.
