Trail run 2:15:00 [3]

1/2 on packed snowshoe trails in Loree Forest, 1/2 on road towards Beaver Valley & back. Winter wonderland!

xc skiing 1:35:00 [4]

Some great lessons & up-tempo skiing with Tarno. Still so much technique to learn, love it!

xc skiing 1:05:00 [3]

Crazy snow today, attempted some skate-skiing (great work-out, slow speed) & actually ran into Rydlo.

Trail run 1:05:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon XCR XA Pro

Not really trail running, more like trudging up hills, then sliding/poofing the downs. CDN womens hockey team accepting gold right now, sweeeeet.

I waxed with -4 to -10 a couple days ago, and was hoping for some decent glide on the skate skis, but I either pooched something, or the ~0 degree temps didn't like the wax as I was almost falling forward on the downhills as the skis were grabbing. Very weird, as I used the same wax earlier in the year & it seemed to work well in similar temps. I'm guessing it had something to do with the 2-5cm of fresh snow on the trails???

Trail run 1:30:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon XCR XA Pro

Control takedown from SSR. About 10cm of new snow, but the tracks from the event were still obvious and I didn't bother with snowshoes. One of my favourite parts of organizing the event is the course takedown afterwards, since it's like trail running on the snow through some great forests.

xc skiing 1:30:00 [3]

More SSR control take down, totally cheating on the skis.

xc skiing 1:30:00 [3]

Started with my sis & her bf John-Boy. Watched them suffer for an hour of their first time on skate-skis, then met up with StacieS who showed me some sweet back-countryish trails out back of Scenic Caves. More & new terrain is always nice.

Putting out the controls for the SSR. Hip flexors weren't very happy from 1hr onward, not sure what's up with that crap.
1 PM

xc skiing 2:00:00 [2]

More SSR control setting. Felt pretty average, not sure why as I was going pretty slow.

GPSing xc trails @ Horseshoe for the SSR. Icy trails.

48:15 Up Tempo ~15k, then cooled down afterwards. Looks like my avg. speed was around 18kph. Am considering the Fischer Loppet in March at Hardwood if I'm not in Mexico. Looks like the top guys avg. over 20kph for 40k.

xc skiing 2:00:00 [3]

xc w/ Phatty, Hansel & PJ, plus picked up Jay Vurma on the trails. Great conditions & the snow was running pretty fast, except for Phatty who waxed too cold & had to suck up the extra work. Nice crowd at Scenic Caves for NordicFest, great to see a bunch of old friends.

Trail run 1:15:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon XCR XA Pro

Ran the switchback loop w/ PJ. Snow on the trails was pretty hard-packed except a few wind-blown areas next to fields, no snowshoes required. Made more interesting as I fogot a headlamp.

Snowshoe 5:00:00 [1]

Hanging Flagging Tape for the Snowshoe Raid controls. There was about 10cm of fresh snow on top of a hardish crust. Interesting route this year. Will also be interesting to see if Patrick can clean them all in under 3hrs this weekend during testing. Any bets?
