Kayaking 3:05:00 [3] 30.5 km (9.9 kph)

From Kimberley to Thornbury on the Beaver river with Frankenjack in a few Down River boats he brought along. Love this paddle, the first 2 hours are basically winding flatwater & the rest is Class I & II whitewater, made more fun/interesting in the tippier DR boats. Using the DR boats I learned I have a seriously messed up paddling stroke/position in the boat. Not sure what the problem is (perhaps a lingering effect from my broken hip?) but the boats always veered left on me. First I thought JVD gave me a lame duck, so we swapped & the same thing kept happening? Totally weird, but also has me thinking this could have always been a problem I never noticed due to paddling in kayaks with a rudder. Anyone ever heard of this problem?

Orienteering race 3:50:00 [2] 26.0 km (8:51 / km)

CNYO Snowgaine Day 2. We headed off in the same direction as Team RF who was setting a solid pace, thankfully we split after a few k allowing us to ease off, but the tone was set for a fast day! We had another solid day of nav and averaged about a k per hour faster than Day 1, but were beat to the line by Team RF by roughly 15min, congrats to Harps, Leanimal and Relentless. This was a great area for navigation with loads of big hills, many picturesque lakes & ponds and some great open forests. I'd highly recommend the CNYO rogaine-style events.

Orienteering race 7:50:00 [2] 48.0 km (9:48 / km)

CNYO Snowgaine Day 1. Running w/ Hermes. With no snowshoes necessary due to the lack of snow we knew the course could be cleared so it came down to planning the best route for Day 1 in order to maximize time on the course & leave as few CP's as possible for Day 2. We planned for a counter-clockwise loop around the outside for Day 1, thinking we'd leave a smaller loop around the inside for Day 2. Given our speed, I think this could have been optimal except we picked up a CP early (CP43) requiring a big down and up, which we should have left for day 2. It turned out we didn't have quite enough time to complete the large Day 1 loop and had to cut through the middle picking up CP's which would have been better left for Day 2. At days end it seemed Team's MBR, RF and us all had roughly the same distance to cover on Day 2, however RF seemed to have an edge with more road travel left over.

Legs were not happy after roughly 12k, still need more time to recover fully from Ecuador. Ran up & down scenic caves rd. Was supposed to be a longer/different route but the wind/blizzard at the top of the hill was nuts!
