shoes: Asics Trail Attack 6

Up the road, up Ararimu Valley Rd into forest on NW side. Back through some tracks down to Campbell Rd and back along Ararimu Valley Rd

New shoes seemed OK although may be a touch short. Left calf good, right one still a bit tight - more massage and stretching

Now I don't want to complain about the weather but I'm struggling a bit running in the heat. Maybe I ought to try starting a bit earlier in the day (which of course will be better preparation for events with an early start)

A couple of loops in Riverhead keeping close'ish to home in case I felt like bailing. A bit tired even though I've taken things a little easy this week... whoops, forgot about thursday which was probably a bit harder than it should have been

C dropped me off at corner of Oraha and old north roads. Ran up to the forest entrance (Brown rd), followed that to Barlow, followed that for a bit then turned off and hit the trails for most of the way back to the Barlow Rd entrance then up the hill to home.

Nice flow on some of the hills (downhill of course!) and let it rip on the last section of trail *almost* keeping in front of two mountain bikers the whole length of the trail but they caught me about 50m from the end. Still, was moving fast and felt really good :-D

Calves still tight (even with old shoes on) so need to stretch and massage

Cruise around western springs and up to jaggers bush.

Managed to stand on a sharp stone on the jaggers bush trail which burst a little blood vessel under a toe which wasn't all that comfortable. Not a big problem though, it's pretty much OK next morning.

Found calves are both pretty tight after yesterday's run in new shoes - worse after today's run. Should probably use old shoes tomorrow to hopefully settle things down.

With Carole to and from domain - did our own thing once there. Felt pretty good until I got to the longer uphill section from stanley st to the duck ponds when legs started complaining.

Recovery week this week so probably need to take it a bit easier before cranking up the load again...

Of course after starting back at work this week my holiday routine has got disrupted and afternoon naps are off the agenda
