Note

Decided to skip running today as I felt that the legs really needed a little recovery. Instead I spent a lot of time outside working around the house. Of course, not sure that doing weeding will help much as I usually get sore hammies afterwards

8 AM

Run warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160

warm up before...

quads were definitely a bit sore and I was also a bit tired (late night)

...and warmdown after

quads were sorer, had to walk down one bit of the track as the quads hurt too much going downhill!!

Drills 40:00 [4]
shoes: Asics 1160

Drills went much better after Thursday's session with Mike.

9 AM

Circuit 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160

Ohhh, legs were a bit dead by this stage but got through it all

7 AM

Road bike 1:10:00 [3] 28.7 km (24.6 kph)

From top of Old North Rd to work (Browns Rd entrance to Riverhead Forest)

Tried to take it a little easy however the hills I had to go up were a bit of a struggle (small as they were!!) - the quads were feeling a little underpowered after last night's session

6 PM

Run warm up/down 26:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160

To and from the domain

Drills intervals 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: Asics 1160

Session with Mike doing drills to make sure I was doing everything correctly. Finished with some hill reps

Legs were feeling a bit toasted by the end making the run back to work a little tough!

Very useful session though :-)

Run 25:00 [3]
shoes: Vibram 5 finger

Domain.

What was supposed to be an easy recovery run however I ended up going too hard and kept on having to force myself to easy off.

It didn't last long however as I stood on something rather hard and sharp and bruised underneath my left foot so decided to bail and head back. Was hobbling for a bit but by the time I got back to work it was largely OK, phew! Obviously I'm not landing my feet light enough yet...

Run warm up/down 21:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160

Run tempo 30:18 [4] 5.8 km (5:13 / km)
shoes: Asics 1160

Sub-threshold run. Started at corner Poronui and mt eden rd, through the old teachers training college, Melville park, kimerly, campbell cres, puriri dr to greenlane rd, back to market rd, great south, along omahu to remuera rd. Largely flat with only a couple of small slopes. Think I got the effort about right - "comfortably hard" - although heart rate might be a bit high (although I only checked this once)

Cadence was ~170
Heart rate was ~155
Breathing was generally 2 steps per in breath and 2 steps per out with some bits 6 steps per breath cycle.

Got a funny form of stitch in lower right back a couple of times (maybe around kidneys?). Changed my breathing/step synchronisation so that I started breathing in and out when the left foot landed rather than right foot landed and that seemed to help ease things a little.

Run 20:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160

After sub-t to recover. Sort of forgot and ended up slipping back into sub-t mode for a bit running around the back of newmarket but compensated by walking up Sarawia St!!
