Run long (Hills) 1:37:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160

Managed to get a leave pass between opening prezzies and having lunch. So with strict instructions to make sure I was back in time for lunch, headed off to Mt Kaukau from Churton Park.

Legs were feeling good to start with even after the long drive yesterday although right hip flexor had gotten a bit uncomfortable during the drive - this is something I've noticed happening this year, maybe something to do with having to hold my leg up a little - might benefit from a small cushion to support my leg?

In any case, the legs feeling good didn't last all that long - the hills soon sorted that out!! Didn't quite find the best way through Johnsonville - every corner seemed to bring another hill (either up or down) and then spotted what I thought were marker posts on the farmland. 'Aha!' I thought, scrambled up a rather dodgy and slippery steep slope behind a house that was being built only to find that the posts were a derelict fence - d'oh! Oh well, carried around, up and over the hill and eventually came onto the real track.

Beaut views from the top of Kaukau - all the way across to the South Island with a touch of snow still on the Inland Kaikouras.

Back largely the way I came with a better exit off the hills onto the streets (definitely wouldn't fancy going down the way I had come up!)

Tough 700m climb up Waverton Tce to finish me off

Run 1:37:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trail Attack 6 (#2)

First run in my new trail shoes and christened them in some Riverhead mud

From Browns Rd, on tracks for a bit, over Barlow Rd and down to Forestry Rd gate. From there along Forestry and then into the bermuda triangle however going from this direction was OK. Along Long Bush, up through some crap to the trig, down to barlow then tracks back to the entrance and up the road to home. Managed > 50% trails with this route :-)

Now I kind of remember why it's usually a good idea for me have an easy run on Wednesday - quads started complaining before an hour was up. Oh well, no choice but to continue as had to get home!

Run 48:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160 (#2)

From work to, and around, cornwall park

A bit of a schizophrenic run tonight, was supposed to be an easy run but kept on going faster and harder and having to ease off, found I was going too hard again, ease off..

Run warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160 (#2)

Warmup + DS

Run hills 23:15 [4] 3.6 km (6:28 / km) +180m 5:10 / km
ahr:160 max:166 shoes: Asics 1160 (#2)

Mt Eden from corner of Normanby up roads to top of Mt Eden. x 2

11:19 and 11:56

Legs were feeling quite springy to start with on both reps although that didn't last all that long(!)

Interestingly, last time doing this my fastest time was 11:56 with the others 12:30 -> 12:45 (although it was 4 reps...)

I started a 3rd rep but immediately realised that was not a good idea as the legs had lost all of their sprong and I felt that I'd had enough so pulled the plug

Run 21:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 1160 (#2)

Down hill after each rep then back to work
