Waharau, up to ridge track then up kohukohunui to start of tapapakanga track/stream where I discovered a sign telling me the track was closed 'cos of kauri dieback.... s**t. I swore. Loudly. Why couldn't they have said that down at the information center so I could organise a different route + transport? It's a wee bit too late when you're out the back of beyond, especially with the lack of track options in the hunuas
In any case, I read the sign which said that there was no kauri dieback in the hunuas at all - my shoes had been dry and spotless before I started and I'd thoroughly sprayed them so I didn't bring it with me AND I hadn't picked it up during my run (as there isn't any) therefore I couldn't spread it (cross fingers). So I went down the track in any case as I really didn't want to go back and then have to run 1.5->2 hours on the road to get back home
As it was, going back might have been quicker as the track was way worse than last time - it was badly overgrown, heaps of supplejack, undergrowth and roots. Eventually got down to the stream after 61 minutes (previously I've taken between 43-45 minutes) so very slow going. Then the stream was also pretty slow and overgrown as well so quite a bit slower down there as well.

To top it all off I had to take my glasses off around tapapakanga as they were completely steamed up with the drizzle and humidity and it would be way too dangerous to try running along the rocks not been able to see. And once I got back to Orere beach discovered they were no longer there. Dang.
So a long walk back along the beach/rocks retracing my steps to where I last knew I had them and back. Again. No glasses.
Oh well, it was probably time to get some new ones in any case. And I'll never put them on my cap...
