Running (Pavement) 25:00 [1] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Super-easy St. James run with kids. Good recovery for me after yesterday's effort.

Running intervals (Pavement) 50:00 [5] 7.0 mi (7:09 / mi)

Fitness test run: Classic 3 x 3/2/1 Lake Merritt intervals. Perfect weather conditions. Didn't quite make it to the world record finish but got past the bench right before it--a few meters further than last month's effort.

The problem with doing these intervals in the springtime is having to dodge around all the fat people walking two or three abreast on the path. You'd think an 8 foot wide strip of asphalt would leave plenty of room for everyone, but Nooooooo! And everyone knows that hundreds of runners train here on any given day. I sometimes think that some of these obese blobs are hogging the path on purpose, to slow down the evil runners.

Running (Pavement) 51:00 [2] 6.5 mi (7:51 / mi)

Long Lake Merritt loop. I ate a lot of junk food in the afternoon (we had a math department meeting after school, and I couldn't resist the treats), and as a result my stomach was a bit woozy.

Orienteering race 1:24:49 [4] *** 7.4 km (11:28 / km) +420m 8:56 / km
spiked:15/15c

Orienteering at Joe Grant. Navigated well--my biggest loss of time came from trying to stuff my map in the small map case at the start triangle. Typical BAOC terrain, with the usual collection of dangerous reentrants and steep climbs.
