Bicycling (MTB) 1:20:00 [2] 12.0 mi (6:40 / mi)

This was my first outdoor bicycle ride since Point Pinole in February. Pretty sad for someone who, in my pre-orienteering days, used to log 10,000 miles a year on the bike. Perhaps my injury is my body's way of telling me to "ride more and run less!"

Anyway, I felt a little stiffness in the back but no pain at all. And I rode around the Mountain View Cemetery for the very first time--great place for a mountain bike!

Running 10:00 [1] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Bicycling (Stationary) 30:00 [1] 7.0 mi (4:17 / mi)

I'm still injured. Made it to the end of St. James with the kids, moving very slowly, but then back pain flared up again and I had to walk back to school. The strange thing is that the pain is in a different place than before--not in the middle of my right buttock, but higher up towards the pelvis. I don't get it. Is my original injury healed, and my new pain the result of the bicycling I've been doing the last 4 days, which I'm not used to? Or is this pain related to the original one? I'm totally confused.

The 30 minutes on the stationary bike this evening didn't hurt at all. Running is the issue.

Bicycling (Stationary) 24:00 [2] 8.0 mi (3:00 / mi)

Running (Treadmill) 6:00 [1] 0.5 mi (12:00 / mi)

Went to the weight room again today, as the weather was blustery and that gave me a good excuse to rest my injury for another day. I did run gingerly on the treadmill for 6 minutes as a warmup, though, and felt no pain. Perhaps a real run is in the works for tomorrow!

Bicycling (Stationary) 40:00 [3] 12.0 mi (3:20 / mi)

Late evening workout. Had a league track meet today, so no time to do anything else. Almost ready to test the butt muscle on a run, as I can't feel anything at all wrong with it!

Bicycling (Stationary) 36:00 [3] 10.0 mi (3:36 / mi)

More work on the indoor trainer at home. I could not feel any pain in my buttocks at any point during my workouts today, which I suppose is a good sign. Still, I'm going to wait a couple more days before making any attempt to run again.

Bicycling (Stationary) 45:00 [2] 12.0 mi (3:45 / mi)

Ugh--I seem to be injured. Went to run at Coyote Hills yesterday and about 2 minutes in, I developed a sharp pain in my right buttock area that completely prevented me from running any more. Was hoping to go orienteering at Spring Lake today but still can't run more than a few dozen steps without the pain returning. So I may be on a bike for awhile.

I'm having trouble diagnosing my injury as there is no pain whatsoever when doing any other activity except running. So I guess I'll just not run for a few days and hope for the best.
