Mapping 4:30:00 [1]

Good day at Foley Mountain. Almost finished the main area - about an hour more to check the vegetation in the East end.
Hip held out really well - I was surprised. Slow and steady. Wait to see how stiff I am tomorrow.

Note

5 hours of gardening. Back very stiff but I didn't damage it. Still a lot more to do before I head down East.

Mapping 3:45:00 [1]

Field checked the hilly west end of the map in the areas I had not fully covered a few years ago. The woods were open and the temperature warm enough to be comfortable but cool enough so the bugs were dormant.

Note

Dragon Boat season has started! Good stretch before heading out on a cold grey morning. The wind was very still and the river a bit foggy so it was a little surreal and absolutely peaceful except for the sound of the paddles.

Walking 30:00 [1]

Quick walk down to the beach to stretch the legs and back in the cold and windy weather. Was that it for summer?

Walking 1:01:00 [1]

Walked a loop of the Pine Grove area with Alex to confirm what to include in that flattish area. The 0.5 LiDAR will help in finding the tiny humps and bumps that, other than trails and marshes, will be the only features on the map.
The back is feeling better but still stiff.

Walking 1:10:00 [1]

Walking around the Pine Grove area with Caroline to determine the limits of the new map. It's a large, flatish area with no rock features and very gentle topography. Will be OK for a B event.

Cycling 1:15:00 [2]

Tough ride in the wind and then the rain. Still nice to get out. Canal and lake are just about at summer level. Let the Dragon Boating season begin!
Hip was fine after ride, but stiff this morning.

Walking 3:10:00 [1]

Tracking the west most trails at MKC. Lots of stopping for the views along the Matawaska. Water level was very low so no kayaking to watch except for a novice group in a flat stretch.
The hospitality and meals were superb. The energy level of Dirk and Claudia is amazing. The youthful group of instructors and support staff was very invigorating. Three outdoor Ed. co-op students followed us this morning and livened up the trek with their observations and banter. Oh to be eighteen again!

Walking 3:20:00 [1]

Tracking the east most trails at MKC. Perfect weather. Mostly bush trails but some very pretty lakes and one superb lookout point.
Mumsey and I were pretty bagged at the end. Hip stiff but held out OK.
