XC Skiing 1:01:00 [2]

First ski of the season! Trails at Nakkertok were good except for some of the wet spots that haven't had time to freeze. Bumped into lots of friends on their first local ski too. Back was a bit sore from yesterday's shovelling, and both my adductors are stiff and sore now. A stretch and a glass of wine will help that cause.

Stationary Bike 45:00 [2]

A spin on the bike and half an hour of snow shovelling. Left-over turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, wine, and 4 shortbread cookies. I haven't looked at the scale but I think the turkey won.

Stationary Bike 51:00 [2]

Good spin with the music cranked up. Steady pace kinda wary about adding much load onto the pedals. Hip felt ok at end but is very stiff now.

Walking 1:20:00 [1]

Revelstoke loop with Gloria and Gail and then another loop to the grocery store for milk. etc. So much good food around the house - mince tarts, shortbread, stuffing with gravy, etc. I am eating my way up a couple of notches in my belt. Will try to get out early tomorrow before the foul weather hits.

Walking 1:20:00 [1]

Nice walk in the spring-like weather with the in laws along the river. Good stretch afterward.

Walking 59:00 [1]

5 km Revelstoke loop in the warm weather. Bumped into Marc Methot (#3) of the Senators. The team appears really tired lately with 3 first stringers injured and a busy schedule. Mark acknowledged it and says they will take it easy, over the next few days, no heavy workouts, so they will be refreshed next week. I hope so, they have been mediocre lately.

Walking 35:00 [1]

Busy day, so a shortish walk in the pouring rain was it! Good stretch afterwards. Quite sore, will need an Advil to sleep.

Tuesday Dec 22, 2015 #

Walking 59:00 [1]

Brisk walk along the river until half way back when I started to cramp up in my calves. Stopped to stretch a bit but I should have had water with me. Sore and limping a bit for the last 10 minutes. Good stretch afterwards, adductors still ache.

Mapping 1:30:00 [2]

Mapping the old trails at Nakkertok North. They have done a lot of clearing and rerouting of the trails in the logged area. Have to go back an check the rest of the network.

Stationary Bike 30:00 [2]

Easy spin watching the TV. Expected the legs to be very stiff but it felt good. Only the adductors complained whil stretching.

Walking 40:00 [1]

A cold and windy walk in between parties. Tried to be good at Lorna's until she brought out the vinatorte. Nice time with many good friends.

Note

Well, this is all going downhill. No deliberate exercise today and I royally stuffed myself at Grant and Marion's. Afraid to look at the scale.

Thursday Dec 17, 2015 #

Note

I was exhausted after 2 hours of "shopping" at the craft show. Feet hurt, headache, but I was able to find a few gifts and stocking stuffers.

Walking 30:00 [2]

Late evening walk around the neighbourhood. Still feeling the jet-lag from the trip. Collapse at 9pm and then wake up at 3. Lie in bed for 2-3 hours - dozing only - and then never feel rested during the day.

Stationary Bike 35:00 [2]

Set up the bike on the trainer and went for my first spin since last spring. Kept the tempo at an easy, moderate pace. Have to get the battery replaced on my heart rate monitor so I can measure my effort more scientifically.

Note

45 minute massage with Travis. He worked a lot on my back so I am just a little bit sore.

Walking 40:00 [2]

Gotta get back in the training groove after a month on the road and a week recovering from jet lag.
Weighed an acceptable 159 at the end of the trip but have been putting the pounds back on with the high-carb North American diet and very little exercise. Target weight is 155. Haven't seen that since early summer while working on the Wentworth map.
The adductor wasn't happy after the walk. Must also get back to the strengthening routine.

Stretch & Strength 15:00 [1]

Easy S&S with light weights for the arms and shoulders. Hip stretched out OK. Back was stiff at first but it loosened up.
