Gym with personal trainer 1:00:00 [2]

Stayed away from the lower body again as the Adductors are still very sensitive. Lots of sets for the shoulders and lats.

Stationary Bike 30:00 [2]

Spin on the upright bike at an average heart rate of 112 bpm.
Had to stop a couple of times to relax the quads and calves.
Good stretch in the mat area and then a 15 minute hot tub under the jets for all the sore bits.

Walking 20:00 [1]

Leg cramped up after 5 minutes. So I stopped to stretch it out and cut the walk short. Been happening with regularity now. Maybe a pre-stretch will help. Good overall stretch when I got home.

Gym with personal trainer 1:00:00 [2]

The gym was really busy being a Saturday and open house so we stayed in the PT centre and focussed on tension stretches all over and on the upper back and shoulders with weights and pulleys.
Could not do full extensions with the right shoulder however. Still stiff and sensitive but gradually getting better.

Stationary Bike 34:00 [2]

Fairly easy spin with mt heart rate at 115 bpm most of the way. Adductors complaining a lot afterwards. Tried to stretch them in the hot tub. Still very sensitive to any lateral move.

Cody keeps cranking up the weight and everything is holding together except for the hip that can't take too much weight with a full flex.
We avoid stressing the rotator cuff too. My core is definitely feeling stronger and my posture has improved.
Massage this afternoon and he really worked on the glutes and hamstrings.
Spent a lot of time on the adductors too - but relatively gently. So feeling worked-over but relaxed now.

Note

No training today as the hip was still sore.
An important training day however, as my visit to the surgeon this morning has resulted in a planned full hip replacement in the fall.
Should I have done it sooner? Last year, the same surgeon did not think it would improve my lifestyle very much. I was hurting but still walking well.
I am not walking very well anymore so the burning question this time was - will the hip ever feel better? No, only progressively worse!
So, off I go to the operating room. If things go well I can go home the same day. Yikes!

The hip was sore so we concentrated on the upper body and worked the back, chest, and arms. Still managed to do four sets of squats without weights that didn't bother the adductors too much.

Stationary Bike 30:00 [2]

Worked up a sweat on the bike keeping my BPM at 115. Then 10 minutes in the hot tub jets to try and massage the sore bits.

XC Skiing 50:00 [1]

Very easy ski at Nakkertok in beautiful spring (+3C) sunshine. Trails were mostly fantastic. Only problem was the adductors that had to complain with every sideways move.
Stopped several times to test the new pocket camera with 30X zoom. Obviously need a tripod at max zoom but otherwise the picture quality is great.
Just me and a nuthatch on Horseman's pass.

Gym with personal trainer 55:00 [1]

Lots of tension band stretching and work on the lats with the machines.
Hamstring curl set that took me to the limit that I could comfortably handle.
I enjoy the company and attention that Cody provides me.

Stationary Bike 20:00 [2]

Short spin at 110 bpm just to work up a little sweat. Was stiff getting off the bike. Needed a good stretch of the adductors to get moving again.

XC Skiing 30:00 [1]

Just a quick ski around Mooney's Bay park in perfect weather. -2C and brilliant sunshine.
Hip wasn't happy though, had to stop and stretch it out a couple of times.

Walking 1:13:00 [1]

Seized up after 10 minutes in the gluteus and all down my leg. Had to stop several times to relax and stretch. Finally warmed up after 20 minutes but I was pretty sore by the end.
For some reason my bum right shoulder and arm was also complaining. Not a fun walk on a sunny but cool day.
It took 10 minutes of stretching to get the muscles to relax.

Gym with personal trainer 1:00:00 [3]

Lots of work on the lats, shoulders, and pecs. Was feeling like I was getting a cold last night so I didn't do any cardio add-on.
Lots of new snow, looking forward to some skiing over the next few days.

Gym with personal trainer 1:00:00 [2]

Back to the gym after a week's holiday with lots of swimming and walking - no intense "training".
Lots of work today on the upper body - front and back. The hardest was the barbell chest press - I was shaking at the end of each rep.

Stationary Bike 20:00 [2]

Short spin to see how the quads and glutes feel after biking. Was OK until I got off the bike - glutes complaining loudly.
10 minutes of stretching helped me walk out of the gym without limping.

Mapping 2:40:00 [1]

Been a very active week in Florida with walks and swims every day.
But today was a full-on low intensity workout on the trails of Alafia River State Park. It was comfortable in the woods but hot in the open areas.
Made a lot of minor changes for Gord's meet in a couple of weeks.

Gym with personal trainer 58:00 [1]

A low intensity workout with a focus on the chest and lats. Cody tried the tempering rollers on my legs but it really upset my always tight calves. So no particular benefit there. Followed up with a 12 minute spin and 10 minutes of stretching.

Gym with personal trainer 1:00:00 [2]

Relatively easy workout except for the lats machines where the PT upped the weights. Feeling it now.
Need to add a warmup/warmdown routine for these events.
