Walking 1:55:00 [1]

Picking up the remainder of the markers from yesterday's Suncoast meet. Weather was beautiful. Warm and not muggy. All the control sites were in the rolling open pastureland at the north end of the map so it was a beautiful hike.

Walking 1:20:00 [1]

The thunder and lightening held off for most of the participants at the Suncoast O-Champs at Alafia River State Park in FLA.
But for the late-arriving Adventure Runners and the control picker-uppers the clouds dumped torrents of warm rain. : ) The brim of my Tilly was bent downwards and poured rain down my back and into my backpack.

Six local JROTC teams (all Navy) fought for bragging rights and annual trophies. Great atmosphere. The run-in was a gauntlet of screaming supporters and opponents with team members joining in for the last sprint down the finish shute with each finisher.

Gord has made dozens of maps and run many events in Florida over the last few years. This was the third time we enjoyed a mini vacation and helped out at one of his meets. We will be lucky to do it again!

Walking 2:10:00 [1]

Placed another dozen controls for the Suncoast meet here in Florida. A nice mix of terrain amid dozens of mountain bike trails. By 10:30 it was in the 80's and time to call it a day.

Walking 3:50:00 [1]

Setting out controls with Mumsey and Gord at Alafia State Park near Tampa Bay, Florida. It was hot but there was a nice breeze. Beautiful area, really enjoyed myself but I am pooped!
