Very sloppy orienteering on Bruce's new map of Bruce Pit. Mostly a problem of poor planning and poor judgement of distance travelled. Work too much at 1:5000 so I am always stopping short in the bland areas at 1:10000. That's my story anyway.
Good turnout considering that many of the regulars were down at NAOCs.
18 minutes per Km. Need to get it down to 15/16 to be competitive. But I walked as hard as I could while the calves were cramping and the adductors were aching. A few spasms near the end so I had to slow down.
It will be interesting next weekend on the flattish Arboretum map. Can I keep my focus for over an hour? I was able to tune-in today after giving my head a shake after the terrible #6.
Nice day for checking the area east of the Hydro at Nakkertok. Lots of nice woods but not a lot of prominent features. Still 3 or 4 short days to finish it for the Nov. meet.
Good stretch afterwards. Both adductors are unhappy.
Very nice hike on a beautiful day from P7 around Skyline. Friends Gwen and Wayne (and Rufus) joined us for the hike and a fabulous lunch at Les Fougeres. So, great exercise but net weight gain!
A walk around the Bill Mason Outdoor Centre trails with Jennie and a centre director. Very flat and marshy but a good area for novice and intermediate orienteering - minus any topography. A must to update given the heavy school traffic.
Then a quick session to update a part of Green's Creek that Jennie will use for her clinics.
Lots of work in the garden, mowing, weeding, etc. but no planned exercise.
Not a lot of energy today, the heat doesn't help. Good stretch and strength and lots of flexing the right shoulder.
