Well, I made it! Tried to keep up my cadence and my NP running form with head high and arms up. Actually it was much better and my heart rate did not go nearly as high. In the last 5 km my cadence was still 90 per minitue. Legs felt good. Knees a little stiff by the end and arms stiff at the elbows. Maybe I need to shake them out more along the way to decrease tension. Anyway I am pleased with the results. Definitely faster pace than my last long run and my heart rate stayed within the desired zone. Maybe there is someting to this NP running! Ran 27 min. with a 3 min. walk break on advise taken from Gord H. for "older athletes" training for ultra races. Seemed to work out very well. No trouble running again after the break.

orienteering 1:07:00 [3] 8.0 km (8:23 / km)

JP's April fools -O. A beautiful sunny evening but lots of slush and water along the route. Couldn't keep your feet dry that is for sure. Missed the line-0 section between 8-9 and was on my way to 10 when I realized it and decided to turn around and go back! I guess I deserve the "fool" designation for that one! Anyway went around the entire line o and the only flag was 10 m from the end! Thanks JP! It was a fun event despite the wet and the pizza afterwards was excellent!

snowshoeing 2:37:16 [0] 6.53 km (24:06 / km) +215m 20:41 / km

Out to Sandy Mcnabb with my friend Alanna who is 7 1/2 months pregnant and the 2 boys. A beautiful day to be out. The snow was soft and the sun was warm. Went up along the open ridge in reverse of JP and Andree. In behind the ridge and then headed north up another small river valley. I obvisously hit the stop button at one of my pciture stops as I have no track for a ways! Figured we went about 8.5 km in total in just over 3 hours. The kids did great. Kyle really enjoyed it. Hope to get out once more next week if the snow holds! Perhaps up to Burstall area.

Weight training 50:00 [3]

Squats with 90 lbs and then a weight circuit. Good workout. My butt is sore from yesterdays dynamic reverse lunges and now today, more wolking lunges with a 25 lbs plate held overhead. Will I be able to ski this afternoon?
12 PM

Downhill skiing 3:15:00 [3]

Downhill skiing with the boys at Norquay for the afternoon. A nice day, some sun, some snow flakes and generally good snow. No lines at all! My legs hung in there for a few trips down Bruno's gully and Lone Pine. A fun day to not be working!

Tabata Interval Work 45:00 [3]

New round of workouts. 45 sec/15 sec breaks. 5 exercises, 4 rounds, no longer recovery break in between.
5 PM

Running 48:28 intensity: (6:02 @0) + (33 @1) + (21 @2) + (31:22 @3) + (9:30 @4) + (40 @5) 8.1 km (5:59 / km) +16m 5:55 / km

Another "Natural Posture Run". Working on increased cadence, keeping my arms bent properly and not lifing my heels too high! Lots to remember! Definitely can go faster, but just won't be able to maintain it for long runs yet! I may not be able to run my long slow distance with this method that is for sure! It does feel pretty good though! Now I have put in 2 routes both about the same distance that I can use to compare my time and heartrate with this new running technique. Todays was definitely faster than Sat. Both included a 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 minute walk at the beginning as a warm up. We shall see....!
