Well, I made it! That's about it for sure. This was a very tough run for me. Couldn't breath very well through my nose which made drinking from a tube on the run very difficult. I didn't have any extra energy that's for sure! It was a beautiful day and on the way up once we crested the ridge, the clouds actually rolled in for a short while which was a welcome relief! The views were spectacular. 360 panorama! I hit the turn around at the 2 hour mark and thought I was doing okay. The downhill switchbacks from the top went well and I actually passed a few people. My energy soon ran out once we hit the ridge again. It just seemed to go on forever! Nice to get back to the switchbacks again, but when we came back out to the road I was just about done in! Wow, from thinking your doing well, to wondering if your going to make it! The last 5 km was really tough. No energy left and all in the beating sun! My theory of laying low and keeping out of the heat this week to help get over my cold kind of backfired as I just wasn't accustomed to the heat. I was every so happy to see the finish line, and so thankful that JP was there to walk back to the finish and bring me some water as I made my way to the creek! After a quick soak, I had to run off as the Stampeders were playing football at 2:00 (I've missed so many games already this year!) Not sure if my chest/throat is sore now from the running or all of the cheering! Ah, but it was worth it!

Checking and flagging control sites at Rafter 6 Ranch in preparation for the AOA Champs middle distance courses. Was a really hot day. Started to loss my focus on the terrain by the end. Time to quite for sure. No bears, just a few deer thankfully!
