So, going into the Long Event, I was probably in third place, within a bunch of others. Somehow I believed I would do reasonably well, and I did. I listened to "sage" advice, and worried more about contours than rock features. Bobbles at the very difficult 7th control - where others had trouble (see Ron Bortz) and again at the 10th, where there were a bunch of rock faces to choose from. Beautiful day, early start, so lots of time to wonder how I'd done. Happy to finish first and pass those ahead of me from the day before. Thanks especially go to AnnieMac, who chauffeured me around, cheered me on and generally was a force for good all weekend.

Mediocre effort at West Point. Blew the second and fifth controls, but was still only six minutes behind leader in (geezer) class. The second control baffled me with many cliffs not on the map (been warned about this) and the fifth control was on my clue sheet as a rootstock (I found a few) but was a boulder. The clue sheets did not match the real controls sometimes - but the map clues did. Others figured this out faster than I did.

First sprint ever - and it showed. Enjoyed it, blew a very short (30 second) control badly by running by it and had a couple of other bobbles. I will do better in my next one. Promise.
