orienteering 57:44 [3] 3.07 mi (18:48 / mi) +11m 18:36 / mi
weight:170lbs shoes: Falcon VJ - Footlok

Orienteering at Pakim Pond, Never really do well here; although today was not terrible. I found the controls to be hung so low, in the undergrowth, that I'd get very close and couldn't find without substantial beating around. Shoes untied four times - my bad. Understand that the equipment we use mandates low control-hanging. Drizzly day in the Pine Barrons. Nice run around, anyway. Suspect I'll finish 3rd or 4th.

Hill repeats 7x - baby steps. One exciting fall. Beautiful day.

Note

Attended a military burial at Arlington Cemetery. Pretty big deal we make of such matters, with rifles, bagpipes, swords, speeches and so forth. Then the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Air Force Memorial for another related ceremony, then to an Irish Pub in D.C. for more speeches and toasts. Long day - up at 4:30AM, home at 6:30PM. More tired than after a day of orienteering.

Map & Compass work 50:49 [3] 2.74 mi (18:33 / mi) +11m 18:18 / mi
weight:167.8lbs shoes: Asics

Tired and needed a birthday gift to my body. Walking replication of 2014 Pakim Pond event, splits and all. Interesting how very much faster it is to walk and not make any mistakes than it is to run around like a headless chicken and make 3 or 4 large mistakes. Split comparison shows about half of my running splits faster, but big-time errors abounded at the event. Maybe someday I'll actually walk a course. Time at meet: 1:22.15!
How did Attackpoint know to list this as a map & compass exercise? Pace?

run - trails 1:04:41 [4] 5.27 mi (12:16 / mi) +99m 11:36 / mi
weight:168.8lbs shoes: Inov-8 Trailroc 245

Had to work hard for this . . . Note that I've run this exact track five times and the Garmin varies from 5.27 mi. - 5.37 mi. and 99.3M - 144M elevation. King Kong crushes me still.
