Coolest thing: a large female redtail hawk perched on a light post right outside the window where I was stretching, pre-exercise. She stayed there for my whole stretching routine, then went after a squirrel. Beautiful bird. Cosmic.

Finally had the chance to walk, slowly, on the Burnt Mountain map Brown X course. Going mostly straight, never, ever losing contact with the map, using the magnifier, stopping often equaled this. Of course, there are no mistakes, and of course, when it counted, I thought it would take a speed of about 14-15 min per km to win my age category. Ha - should have attempted this approach. I acknowledge that there's something screwy with this thinking. It couldn't be this easy.
