Swimming (Test) 50:00 [3]

Was really tired after a whole week with no real rest day but as nearly every day in this week, starter bad but finished strong (see separate email).

15' - 750 m
50m - 44"
100m - 1'50"
200m - 3'50"

Was Ok through the test but could not increase my speed on the 50, 100 and 200 meters tests. After all of that, felt like I could keep swimming for hours :-D

Still think I need more water and need to focus a bit more on my technique.

Skiing (XC Classic) 1:40:00 [3] 15.0 km (6:40 / km)

Swap Saturday/sunday sessions as had the chance to get a lift to Studen for a XC session. Studen is a flat course. I did struggle the first half but picked up on the second part and finish strong. Put extra effort on my upper body and on the technique. Once again loved being out there in such great scenery!!

Strength (Tabata) 20:00 [3]

Found a nice spot were to do the series: a cemetery :-D Thought my heart would come out of my chest but kept going. The 10" of recovery felt like just 2". I thought that this was the first time I did the Tabata properly!! :-D

Strength (DSD) 10:00 [3]

Maybe I need to add some weight on a backpack next time!!

Strength (Push ups/Stick ups) 15:00 [3]

Did strength work after my last (hopefully) PT session. Did the push ups in series of 10s. Thought I would not be able to get through all of them but managed!! :-D Took extra care on doing them properly and had the extra pressure of my PT being nearby keeping an eye on me :-D

Running (Child's play) 30:00 [3]

100 m jumps felt a bit too long...

Running (Speed) 30:00 [3]

Track was still frozen but it was OK to run. Series went OK. Transition from backwards to forwards remind me that of bike-running in a Triathlon :-D

Monday Mar 8, 2010 #

Note

Track was completely frozen and shade area was covered in snow. It was just not feasible to run (let alone backwards). I will have to shift sessions this week and take today as a kind of resting day.

Yoga 1:30:00 [3]

Better and better but not easier and easier :-D

Skiing (XC Classic) 2:40:00 [3] 22.0 km (7:16 / km)

Excellent conditions apart from a cold strong wind, specially on top of the hills that helped the classic track to disappear :-o My technique has improved (watched the Olympics!!) and I am enjoying it even more every time I go.

A friend suggested that I take on in-line skates in Summer as a way to then quickly jump into XC Skating. Would that fit well with the training program?

Swimming 50:00 [3]

It was a beautiful day to be in the water seeing the snow falling outside the swimming pool :-D

I suffered quite a lot on the first 5 100s but kept going and managed to finish stronger than I started. I still need to improve my stile and think I need "a lot of water" :-D

Running 30:00 [3]

Very nice run before my PT session - forgot pacer and just decided to enjoyed :-D
4 PM

Strength (ATW Core) 30:00 [3]

Did some alternative exercises with PT

Running (Tabata Run) 30:00 [3]

Found difficult to get the right pace for the intervals. I might do the next Tabata Run in the track so to get a feeling for time and distance, and therefore, pace.

Note

Strength: Completely forgot to do it :-( When should I fit this back?

Strength 30:00 [3]

Thought that this would be a too long and too repetitive session but managed to go through it OK.

Were the lunges static or dynamic? Can you send me a good link for lunges?

Running 30:00 [3]

Very enjoyable run!! :-D

Strength (100s) 12:11 [3]

100s: Series 5 x 20 for each type

Main focus on stabilising the back through stomach and back muscles.

Push ups were the most difficult exercise, I guess due to the work on my arms and shoulders playing volley the day before.
6 PM

Yoga 1:30:00 [3]

Great!! :-D

Focussed on breathing and releasing tension - Love it!!
