Trail race race (Hickstead Gallop) 33:23 [5] 8.0 km (4:10 / km)

I was up late and at a boozy party, so preparation was far from ideal. But that isn't the story. In short, I felt ok and was in the mood, but I started steady meaning to pick it up later then found I couldn't. Didn't feel stressed but just kept getting passed by more and more people. I now know I was just seconds off 9 points but I was convinced - even though I was never uncomfortable - I might struggle even to score 8. I was under 30 secs off my very good time in 2013, but conditions were terrible then and today they were perfect. So nearly 3 mins down? I don't know what this means because I don't know what I'm doing. Would have loved to go orienteering this morning, then there's the duathlon; I still love races under 10k and here's my marathon confirmation letter. I need a plan, but more than that I need to know what's going on with my back. Today it was fine. Took just one small ibuprofen.
