Orienteering (Hindleap Warren SE League) 1:07:49 [4] 7.0 km (9:41 / km) +285m 8:03 / km
spiked:18/21c weight:71kg

Back was vulnerable but much better. On the way to the start, though, I thought there was nothing I'd rather be doing just then, and I tried to hold onto that feeling to ensure I didn't have a repeat of the last two weeks. Before you start you often feel like you're going to nail every control, and the fact is, why shouldn't you? So, positive mental note, but conservative effort. 1 looked tricky, as it should be (note to planner-self, first leg must be TD5). Took the higher path to play safe but still overshot slightly. Spiked 2 and 3 but floundered a bit near 4 as someone else was bumbling short of the right reentrant. Walked up some of the big hill to 6 but was pleased with the way things were going. Stuck with paths (right move I think) for 9, 10 and 11, then went direct for 12 and was relieved to come out right on the flag. Still going ok by the second road crossing at 45 mins, so just had to hold on for eight more. Dropped 30 secs looking too early for 16 and 45 more stuck in brambles near 19. Made a mess of exiting 17 but can't see how I could have done it better and almost passed 23. I'd pretty much done it though, and was happy with things walking to download. Lower back hasn't really been right since 3 Forts in May; let's hope it's finally getting sorted.

Headwind home. Didn't enjoy that at all.
