Trail race race (Steep Down Challenge) 36:13 [5] 8.0 km (4:32 / km) +160m 4:07 / km
weight:69kg

Perfect day for a favourite race. Really wanted to see how my back was after feeling well weird all week on the Thames Path. I think I have to accept that it is now impacting quite significantly on my performance. Biodynamically. Heart and lungs were fine for this run but I could only watch as people ran on ahead. Did wonder if I might overhaul some on the descent, but made no impression on them at all. So mildly disappointed with the result and slightly concerned that if I can't get my back sorted anything over half marathon distance is out the question. For some reason I do feel confident it will sort itself as long as I keep weight off. Was 50 secs slower than last year, which was fewer than it felt like.

Circular walk based on the Arboretum. Through Thorncombe Street to join Greensand Way, then back via Langhurst Farm. Hilly! Needed an ibuprofen on account of lower right back.

Walk (Thames Path) 5:30:00 [2] 12.5 mi (26:24 / mi)

Day 3. Parked in Chertsey then walked through Staines, Wraysbury, Datchet to Windsor. Runnymede was nice. Proper rural almost as soon as I passed under the M25. Train back via Staines. Lower body beginning to feel a little bit more 'normal'. Steep Down will be the test.

Day 2. Train back to Richmond then TP through Kingston, Hampton Court Palace, Sunbury and Walton to Chertsey via Shepperton Ferry. Ordinary houses and free parking finally by Molesey and first cows appeared right at the end of the day. A walk out of the capital to the country. Lower limbs still far from right, but felt much better in the afternoon and got up a pretty good pace. Intensity just 2 because despite brisk pace pulse was barely above 60! Train to Weybridge for Woking connection then Guildford where I was met. Fifteen miles left to Windsor.
