Orienteering race (Stanmer and Coldean) 52:07 [4] 6.6 km (7:54 / km) +200m 6:51 / km

Seized up on Saturday afternoon but walk to the shops probably helped. Remarkably, this morning I felt better than I had post-run for ages. Right ankle was weakest link and wouldn't be helped by wearing broken down old inov8s with sole held on by insulating tape. Without the minute mistakes at 7, 9 and 13 I'd have been a respectable third so result was OK. Didn't seem to miss ibuprofen. Usual stiffness after but, again, was much better next morning than I usually am after a hard weekend.

Trail race race (Chichester parkrun) 21:38 [5] 5.0 km (4:20 / km) +50m 4:07 / km
slept:8.0 weight:73kg

First race without ibuprofen since ... ?? Tightness was missing from chest. Lower back felt vulnerable but not uncomfortable. Bank of parkrun experience gave me reassurance to push hard and I really rather enjoyed myself. Planned to start easy but was with quicker runners on first lap. Thought third lap was faster as I was overtaking but must have been a bit tired. Splits 6.55, 7.20, 7.22. Colder but probably slightly slippier than last week. Recovery ahead of Stanmer tomorrow will be interesting.

Had a bonus ibuprofen after breakfast, and by mid-morning my chest was painfully tight. Perhaps the two things are connected?
