VMLM long run build-up. Decided to go ahead with planned 18 miles despite feeling something 'go' in my neck on Friday evening. Dosed with 200mg ibuprofen per day. Route was a circuit of the Hornet, then cycle path to Aldwick and Prom 10k course to Felpham, before heading home along cycle commute. Reverse of intended route on account of strong winds. Felt pretty OK on outward half to Limmer Lane turn at 10 miles but had a freezing NW headwind for the last 8 miles. Just ground it out marathon style, feeling terrible and ticking off the landmarks. Last 10k took 52 minutes. Overwhelming urge to walk was overcome with the help of cycle companion Jan, who lent some 'point' to what felt at times like an absurd activity. Great to have it in the bank.
