Glad I hadn't entered a longer course as this one took me just about to the brink. Glad I made it too, as I couldn't have run a step on Saturday morning. In the event it went quite well. Sun shone which helped. First two came up ok, so I quickly found the balance between mapreading and running. Eyesight let me down for the longer leg to 9 though, when I confused an old fence with a path and got a bit stuck in grot. Similar thing at 15, otherwise I was pretty secure (probs about 2.5 mins lost). But slow. It was a bit quicker than the jog I thought cold would reduce me to, but lack of experience makes me cautious and rough terrain poses a huge challenge to any sort of 'attack'. Enjoyed it though, even if result still only very average.
