Cross training (recumbent exercise bike) 49:00 [3]
In the morning we all went to Boston Common, where we rode the swan boats & then got wet (well, Max did) in the water fountain at the playground and then the Frog Pond. Then a hot-dog--picnic up near the WWI statue. We sucessfully filled the gap between checking out of our weekend hotel and checking in to Nadim's work week hotel downtown.
While Max was napping, Nadim worked on his laptop & I got in a workout in the Sheraton fitness room (which ordinarily charges 10$ for the privilege ... one of my annoyances re. expensive hotels: everything [breakfast, internet access, fitness room, parking] costs extra. What a scam.). I essentially did the same workout I do at my gym at home, but the room was much hotter, the machine not as nice, though the view was better. I am getting tired of doing this same workout and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting much training benefit out of it, just keeping from totally losing all my limited fitness. And keeping me from going crazy.
Weights 5:00 [2]
Went to the weight room and did my usual arms/shoulders/wrists stuff with 5 lb barbells.

Note
(rest day)
We're in Boston. We all slept in after arriving a bit later than scheduled (flight a bit late; Yahoo maps directions not perfect; lights out due to a manhole cover explosion, and then the hotel had changed hands so we didn't find it right away... this is the 4th time this year we've booked a hotel under one name only to find it's changed management/names!). We went over to Kristin & Andy's, where Max immediately launched into playing with cars with Ethan (mostly) & Bridget. We all headed to the Children's Museum, stopping right away for a good lunch. The museum was awesome and all three kids just loved it. It was hard to leave but Max was really crashing, very late for his nap. By the time we got back to the hotel & he calmed down enough to sleep it was nearly 4:30. Nadim went for a run while I stayed with Max. I was thinking I'd be able to get in a x-training (pool?) session somewhere, but there really wasn't a good time. Oh well. We had a really nice day anyway, capped off by dinner out with the Halls. The kids were pretty well-behaved, though Bridget, especially, was getting pretty tired. Another late-ish night for Max!
Perfect weather.

Friday Jul 13

Cross training (recumbent exercise bike) 42:00 [2]
At lunchtime. Continued reading Bethesda Magazine.
Weights 4:00 [2]
The usual: 5lb barbells, arms, shoulders, wrists.

Thursday Jul 12

Weights 5:00 [2]
Using my 3-lb barbells here at home, while doing other things (email, packing for the weekend, etc) ... hands, arms, wrists.

Wednesday Jul 11

Cross training (recumbent exercise bike) 42:00 [3]
Did this in the morning, before work, because of my quilt guild meeting over lunch. So, I got out the door by 5:30 & was at work before 6. Side benefit is a better parking spot, but it's unbelievable how many people are already at work by then; I got a decent spot but no means a great one.
And the gym & locker room are very crowded in the morning, probably more so than usual with the other gym closed for work. The gym wasn't too bad, though I've grown accustomed lately to the all-women's hours & it was a bit weird seeing men sweat there. The locker room, though, was crazy. Not all that much fun, but tolerable.
Continued reading Bethesda Magazine. More "love" stories, these not quite as uplifting -- online dating and polyamory. :-( Plus a story about Gheorge Muresan. Tall dude.
Weights 3:00 [2]
5 lb barbells; arms, shoulders, wrists.

Monday Jul 9

Cross training (recumbent exercise bike) 47:00 [2]
At lunchtime, my regular cross training. Can't really get too motivated for much else (not a ton of options in the gym), and I'm trying to stay off my ankle so that limits my options too.
Read Bethesda Magazine, which is like Washingtonian only focusing on Bethesda. All the articles I was reading were about love & marriage. Interesting.
Weights 3:00 [3]
Not much time. 5 lb barbells for arms, shoulders, wrists.
