Thursday Mar 31

running warm up/down (road and trail) 29:00 [1]
slept:7.5 shoes: trail pegasus
To and around Menotomy/
running (hills/trail) 12:00 [4]
max:178 shoes: trail pegasus
6 x the steep hill, from the boulder all the way up to the tree. About 50-55 seconds up, a bit slippery on the leaves. Felt weird, haven't done any short and fast stuff for ages. Into the 10km training program as of next Monday, for 8 weeks. Race on Memorial Day. Won't be doing the Goat next weekend - just need a weekend at home.

Wednesday Mar 30

running (roads) 48:00 [1]
slept:7.0 shoes: Grid Shadows
Prospect Street loop. Nice morning. Felt much better than yesterday!
Core Strength 10:00 [1]
Abs and back. Been slacking lately, trying to get back into it this week.

Tuesday Mar 29

running (treadmill) 43:00 [2]
ahr:148 max:160 slept:7.0 shoes: pegasus
Woke up at 5:10 - before the alarm. So my mind was awake, but my body was decidedly sluggish. Warmed up after about 25 minutes ... finally got the pace up a bit, and the incline too for the last bit.
It is going to rain on Saturday for our meet, ugh. It does not bode well for a high turnout of beginners.

Sunday Mar 27

running (or not running)
(sick)
Slept for 90 minutes late morning, and then early at night. Head ache. Ugh.

Saturday Mar 26

Alpine Skiing 24:00 [1]
Lots of childcare today, and less skiing ... but holding Ethan back with the harness is murder on the quads!!!
Nearly 50 degrees in the sun at Cranmore. Lovely!

Friday Mar 25

Alpine Skiing 1:12:00 [1]
Okay, I wasn't going to put this on, but my legs were so sore I decided it had to be training! I figured I'd use Hannah North's system of factoring different types of training: about 3 hours of actual skiing (not including chairlift time), at .4 - that seems about right!
BEAUTIFUL day at Wildcat. Great snow, and great views of the Presidentials in the afternoon (when the clouds lifted). Now I want to go hiking ...

Thursday Mar 24

running (terrain) 58:00 [2]
shoes: trail pegasus
Checking courses in the slush. Very slippery in places. Think I have them set now though.

Wednesday Mar 23

running (roads) 50:00 [1]
slept:7.0 shoes: Grid Shadows
5:30 am. Mass Ave. Lots of runners out these days, obviously getting close to marathon day!

Tuesday Mar 22

running intervals (treadmill) 21:00 [3]
slept:9.0 shoes: pegasus
4 x 3 minutes with 2 minutes rest. 3% incline. Aimed for threshold pace, and got it pretty well judging by the breathing (steady till the very end). Heart rate generally between about 166 and 172, mostly at 168/169. So, not bad, but I wish I'd been going faster!!
running warm up/down (treadmill) 21:00 [2]
shoes: pegasus
Not too slow, but felt much more comfy with .5% incline.

Sunday Mar 20

running (roads) 1:21:00 [2]
slept:7.2 shoes: Grid Shadows
Toward Woburn then around Lexington. 9am. Felt good, beautiful morning!! Bursa on right foot irritated from about 60 minutes onward - the first time I've ever noticed it on a run. Yuck, hope it is not a pattern. Otherwise, a fantastic run.

Saturday Mar 19

running (road/terrain) 45:00 [2]
slept:6.5 shoes: trail pegasus
5pm (much nicer than 5am). Ran around Menotomy checking out potential control sites and routes for the meet. Some places are really icy, but overall it's great. So open! No poison ivy ...Could've stayed out there for ages, but had to get home for supper! Plus, it was getting darker and unpopulated ... bring on daylight savings time!

Friday Mar 18

running (roads) 44:00 [1]
slept:7.0 weight:125lbs shoes: Grid Shadows
5:30am. Good chat this morning. Managed to make David talk all the way up Prospect Hill with a well timed question :-) It's good for him!
Core Strength 14:00 [1]

Wednesday Mar 16

running (warm up/down) 20:00 [2]
shoes: pegasus
Treadmill, 8:30pm.
running (treadmill) 25:00 [3]
ahr:162 shoes: pegasus
Guessing at the average heart rate, as my machine doesn't tell me the average (or I don't know how to make it yet). The program is called rolling hills, but it is really just one long hill with some bits that are less steep than others. 6% incline feels like flat after 12%! My lungs are definitely in better shape than my heart.
Bad news is I can't read a magazine (too much bounce) and can't read the large print book I got out of the library (book rack too narrow). I'll have to rig something up to hold thicker books. Someday a tv, but not yet.

Tuesday Mar 15

running (treadmill) 27:00 [2]
ahr:148
Squeezed a little run in, and played with the buttons. The heart rate seems to jump around a lot ... hope that I can work out a way to keep the contacts good, and that it is not a 'permanent flaw'.
Core Strength 12:00 [1]
Mostly abs and back.

Sunday Mar 13

running (roads) 1:10:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: trail pegasus
Slushy roads. Beautiful morning!! Felt pretty good today - strong up the Hutchinson hill both times. Body seemed particularly un-injured, long may it continue ...
Treadmill arrives Tuesday, so now I will have a bit more flexibility with my training.

Friday Mar 11

running (roads) 50:00 [1]
slept:7.0 shoes: Grid Shadows
Mass Ave to the Museum and back. Light the whole way, wow! Back sore even before starting. Advil after. Need to stretch more .....
Core Strength 10:00 [1]
Left me sore afterward though.

Thursday Mar 10

running (treadmill(s)) 40:00 [2]
slept:6.5
Various intervals and hills on three different treadmills at the treadmill store. Gotta love the 12% gradient. Nice to run mid morning, and to be able to breathe through my nose again.

Wednesday Mar 9

Core Strength 10:00 [1]
slept:8.0
Finally feeling better, but lack of childcare = no run. Did core stuff, I think it IS helping my back.

Tuesday Mar 8

Core Strength 10:00 [1]
slept:6.0 (sick)
Okay, I've been doing core strength stuff for a bit ... and as everyone else logs it ... Plus, it'll help remind me to do it most days. Mostly working to keep the back from getting bad again.

Cold still awful. Couldn't sleep, can't breathe ... ugh.

Monday Mar 7

running (roads) 45:00 [1]
slept:5.0 (sick) shoes: Grid Shadows
5:30am. Prospect St loop. Back achey - is it because of two days off? Or should that have helped? Gutted to not have had time to run yesterday. Lousy night's sleep due to horrible congestion - but running felt great!!

Friday Mar 4

running (roads) 48:00 [1]
slept:7.4 shoes: pegasus
5:30am. Mass Ave toward Lexington. Back achey after, but not as bad - the flat seems to be better for it than hills (just more boring). Still, back to 4 days this week, which feels good.

Wednesday Mar 2

running (roads) 35:00 [2]
slept:8.0 shoes: Grid Shadows
Prospect Street. Hilly. Felt reasonable. Back niggly before and after, though fine during ...
