Wednesday Mar 29

running warm up/down (treadmill) 30:00 [3]
slept:7.0 shoes: Pegasus 2
5:45 am. Much better than yesterday. Have to keep getting 7 plus hours of sleep!
running tempo (treadmill) 20:00 [4]
shoes: Pegasus 2
Got up to 6:22 pace near the end for a few minutes. Smooth, wasn't really working TOO hard, but then again I wasn't fully awake yet either. Lower back not too happy, but didn't seem any worse later in the day.

Tuesday Mar 28

running (treadmill) 33:00 [2]
slept:6.5 shoes: Pegasus 2
33 pathetic minutes at 6:00am. Felt pretty lousy.

Work is getting very stressful. I am just going to try to get a few runs in to keep the stress down ... but not much time for more right now. I can't believe the show will be over in just 10 days. I want the stress to end so that I can actually enjoy it a bit!

Monday Mar 27

Note
Wanted to run, but there is too much to do. I'll get up early tomorrow, as I need to be awake and alert early on ...

just over one week until the show. Nothing is ready.

Sunday Mar 26

running (trails) 1:50:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Pegasus 2
Up Hurricane Mtn road and Red Tail to Black Cap summit - nice views but no sun. Some snow and ice but not too bad. Then down and across to Cranmore, and down the service road. Back didn't like the long down, but it was nice and soft. Felt amazingly good for the first long run in a while. Wish I had more opportunity to get out long on the trails with friends/family like today.

Saturday Mar 25

Alpine Skiing 1:00:00 [1]
Guess we'll call it 60 minutes. My legs felt pretty sore. Did manage to get my heart rate up too ... particularly poling across a long flat with one pole, and towing Ethan with the other one! Also did some good lower back strengthening while skiing with Bridget.

All in all a good last day of the season. A reasonable amount of soft mashed-potato-snow, and warm weather. Hopefully next winter will be less feeble than this one was.

Friday Mar 24

running (roads) 42:00 [2]
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics 2100
5:30am with Debby and David. Feeling okay at the time ... then a few hours later a bit of sore throat and headache ... am I imagining it because Andy is sick????
C • Early morning runs 3

Thursday Mar 23

running (treadmill) 35:00 [2]
slept:7.75 shoes: Pegasus 2
6am. Need a run, no matter how tired I feel!

Monday Mar 20

running warm up/down (roads) 38:00 [3]
slept:6.75 shoes: Asics 2100
9am with Steve. Warm up/down and the downhills.
running hills (roads) 23:00 [4]
shoes: Asics 2100
3 x Spring St/Eastern Ave, from the bottom to the water tower. Didn't time them all, just the last one which was about 7:48, if I remember correctly.

I didn't try to do the first two hard, as I wasn't sure how the whole workout would go. There was a nasty headwind, which made it really hard on my lungs. But I got my legs tired too on the last one, when I pushed a bit harder. Next time I'll have a better idea ...

The downhills hurt my lower back, so if I am training for Mt Washington, I may need to do a fair amount of hill running on the treadmill ... which is more appropriate for the race anyway.

Sunday Mar 19

Event: Boston Area Training: Boojum

Saturday Mar 18

running (trails and roads) 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Pegasus 2
With Pascale at 5pm. Around Habitat, the hospital, and Rock Meadow. Took a while to warm up, but then felt good. Could have kept going, but it was dark and suppertime!

Friday Mar 17

running (roads) 42:00 [2]
slept:5.0 shoes: Asics 2100
First bout of insomnia - awake for 2 hours in the middle of the night thinking about all the stuff that I need to get done for the show! Wide awake for the run, but now it is afternoon and I feel awful. Ah well. Hopefully better tonight. The good news is that the Lighting consule is fixed, meaning that we don't need to rent one, and I can hang and focus lights next week.
I love shows, but I think I'll be very glad when this one is over!

Wednesday Mar 15

running (roads) 41:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2100
5:30am. Nice morning. Feeling much better, though still not enough sleep.
Core Strength 4:00 [1]
Arms only. Bought some 5 lb weights, which I like much better than push ups!

Tuesday Mar 14

Note
slept:8.0 (rest day)
Made a real effort to get enough sleep, and I am taking a planned rest day. Have run 3 days in a row, and didn't feel great on any of them. And I have TONS of work to do ... starting to have stress dreams again ... with 4 weeks to go until the show ...

Monday Mar 13

running (roads) 42:00 [2]
slept:6.0 shoes: Asics 2100
5:30am. Pretty tired!

Sunday Mar 12

running (trails) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Pegasus 2
Felt better, though not amazing. Ran with Wendy and Ian - which is much more fun than alone!
Core Strength 3:00 [1]
Abs, and also did a lot of lower back stretching afterward. It is the twisting motion that hurts most.

Saturday Mar 11

running (treadmill) 42:00 [2]
shoes: Pegasus 2
8:30pm. Felt lousy.

Wednesday Mar 8

running (roads) 43:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 2100
5:30am, with Debby and David. Slower than Monday, which was just fine with me. Feeling a bit stiff from the track work.

Andy and Bridget both on a mammoth 14 hour sleep (TWICE what I got) ... so hopefully this is not the beginning of a family illness! I feel fine at the moment ...

Tuesday Mar 7

running warm up/down (roads) 35:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 2100
To the track the long way. Took a while to wake up! Definitely not feeling spiffy this morning. (5:40am) but at least there is light now.
running intervals (track) 21:00 [5]
shoes: Asics 2100
1200 (lane 2) 4:59
800 (lane 3) 3:08
400 (lane 3) 1:29
2 x 200 (really 200!) both :38

400m rest between long ones, 200m between 200s.

Felt like my legs did remember how to move quickly, but it was a distant memory. I'm going to aim for a track session every week now, and a hill session. I figure if I stick with 5 days a week, I need to make the sessions count.
C • So is your 800 really an 820? ... 2

Sunday Mar 5

orienteering (sprints) 40:00 [3]
slept:7.0
I was planning to get a good warm down in to increase the volume today, but family took over. Sprints were great fun, except going to 11 first instead of 1. Arg. Nailed the other course though.

Sprint 1 - Splits

Sprint 2 - Splits

Friday Mar 3

running (roads) 41:00 [3]
slept:5.5 shoes: Asics 2100
Not enough sleep, but still felt okay. (It'll hit me later.) W/Debby and David ... who are fast on the flats these days, and pretty fast up the hill too. Shins don't seem as bad today.

Thursday Mar 2

running tempo (treaadmill) 20:00 [4]
slept:7.5 shoes: Pegasus 2
4 x 1200m, with 4 minutes rest in between. First 2 at 6:37 pace, third at 6:29 pace, 4th at 6:22. All felt fine, so I should go for all at 6:22 next time!!
running warm up/down (treadmill) 33:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 2
Mostly at 8 min pace, recovery a bit slower between intervals, warm down a bit faster. Felt good today.

Shins are sore from Tuesday. Not used to the roads, I guess!

Wednesday Mar 1

Core Strength 12:00 [1]
Abs and arms.
