Wednesday May 31

Hiking (treadmill) 48:00 [2]
ahr:130 max:140 weight:126lbs shoes: Pegasus 2
Dr. says I am moving around too much, thus pain. So I am back to 'hiking' on the treadmill for a while. And the beauty of it is I can read while I do it, so I am not subjected to rubbish television!

Tuesday May 30

Core Strength 5:00 [1]
weight:127lbs
Feeling wiped. Work took over my life today.

Monday May 29

running warm up/down (roads and grass) 25:00 [2]
slept:7.0 weight:128lbs shoes: Asics 2100
Didn't feel smooth or comfortable ... though not bad.
running race (roads) 19:55 [4] 5 km (3:59 / km) vdot: 50.0
ahr:168 max:177
Guessing at the max heart rate. Didn't ever feel like I settled into a good rhythm. Ah well. Wanted to be closer to 19 even, but what do I expect with so little speed work? Not bad, just not great.
C • seems pretty good to me! 1

Sunday May 28

Note
slept:7.0 weight:126lbs (rest day)
Been feeling a little sore, so decided I should do what I'm told and take it easy ... for one day at least.

Saturday May 27

running hills (trails) 25:00 [4]
max:167 slept:6.5 weight:125lbs shoes: trail pegasus
Up Mt Wachusett, on the trails. Trying to stay steady but not push too hard.
running (trails) 20:00 [2]
shoes: trail pegasus
And back down again.

Friday May 26

running (roads) 41:00 [2]
slept:6.0 shoes: Asics 2100
Tired, but glad to get it done before 6:15 am ...
Core Strength (abs) 4:00 [1]

Thursday May 25

running warm up/down (treadmill) 24:00 [2]
shoes: Pegasus 2
About 11 am.
running intervals (treadmill) 25:00 [4]
shoes: Pegasus 2
3 x 800m, 3 x 400m, 2 x 200m. Would have done an extra 2 x 200m but Bridget was ready for me to finish.

Guess I can manage a 5km on Monday. Not sure I feel fast, but the 200m at about 40 felt fine. Could've gone faster, but as it was my first day running again, I didn't want to go nuts.

Tuesday May 23

Hiking (treadmill) 50:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 2

Sunday May 21

Hiking (treadmill) 50:00 [2]
ahr:142 max:155 slept:7.5 shoes: Pegasus 2
10 min warm up, then 30 minutes at 14%, then gradually down for 10 more minutes. I was surprised at the heart rate: over 135 really quickly, and over 145 for much of the middle section.

Good training for Mt Washington, definitely hurts in different places than a run!
Core Strength 4:00 [1]

Friday May 19

Event: US Team Trials

Note
(injured)
Not able to run until next Friday ... but I am planning to do some serious hill walking to practice for Mt Washington. I figure that race will involve a fair amount of fast uphill walking.
C • Mt Wash 3

Sunday May 14

Event: 28th Annual Billygoat Run

orienteering long 2:00:00 [3]
Billygoat and warm up.
Felt remarkably strong! At the start I never expected to be able to keep up with 'Peter's Pack' the whole way ... but I guess all the marathon training has changed my strengths (now I am crap at Sprints!)

- Splits

Saturday May 13

Event: Pre-Billygoat Sprints

orienteering race (sprints) 35:00 [3]
Two sprints. One lazy and sloppy, one fine.

Sprint #1 (Yellow) - Splits

Sprint #2 (Green) - Splits

Friday May 12

running warm up/down (treadmill) 19:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 2
running tempo (treadmill) 11:00 [4]
ahr:160 max:170
Hill Climb program. Kept pulse over 160 for most of it.

Tuesday May 9

running warm up/down (treadmill) 20:00 [2]
shoes: Pegasus 2
Feeling okay.
running intervals (treadmill) 30:00 [4]
max:170 shoes: Pegasus 2
8 x 400m with 400m recovery. Though it takes a bit for the treadmill to slow down again! And I try to start it speeding up before the interval starts.
Went from 10.3 mph to 10.8 mph, which got me down to 5:33 pace I think. Started at 5:48 pace.
170 is 'the new 180' in terms of my heart rate ... goes with the grey hair I guess.

Sunday May 7

running long (trails and roads) 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: trail pegasus
Habitat and Rock Meadow. A beautiful day and I felt good. Bunion not too bad today, though it is still 'there' ...
Looking forward to the Billygoat next week. Although I don't feel fast, I feel like I can go on and on ...

Saturday May 6

running (roads) 20:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2100
With Andy, mid afternoon. Call it warm up and down for one hill ...
running hills (roads) 8:00 [4]
Up Spring Ave the whole way. Tried to push somewhat.

Thursday May 4

running warm up/down (treadmill) 15:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 2
Mid-day. Bridget allowed me to run today :-)
running tempo (treadmill) 25:00 [4]
ahr:164 max:170 shoes: Pegasus 2
Rolling hill program for 25 minutes. HR was over 165 for most of the second part, never below 155. I think it was a bit faster than last time ... next time I'll try 2 x 20 minutes and see how it goes.

Wednesday May 3

running (roads) 42:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 2100
5:30am. Felt tired (sleepy and stiff), but it was nice to get out.

Tuesday May 2

running warm up/down (treadmill) 23:00 [2]
slept:7.5 shoes: Pegasus 2
11am. Felt okay, back a little niggly.
running intervals (treadmill) 27:00 [4]
ahr:168 max:170 shoes: Pegasus 2
4 x 800m with 400m recovery. 3:09, 3:07, 3:05, 3:00. Felt like my breathing was okay, but my legs just wouldn't go faster, so at the end I threw in 2 x 200m - which I think were about 42 or 43 - though the time to accelerate on the treadmill makes it hard to be accurate over such short distances. Again the heart and lungs were fine, but the legs aren't used to going fast. Just couldn't seem to get the heart rate up any higher!

Monday May 1

running (roads) 10:00 [2]
Pushing Bridget in the stroller (NOT a jogging one) and wearing street clothes! But I did keep a steady pace, and got my pulse up, so I figured I would log it.
The rest of the day I was feeling light-headed and slightly queasy. Either worn out from the weekend, or my mind was responding to the huge piles of laundry waiting for me.
