Saturday Apr 26

running (treadmill) 27:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2130
8:45 pm. Too late, couldn't sleep afterward. ITB sore later also, but could be the exercizes ...
Core Strength (legs and abs) 20:00 [1]
Leg lifts hurt. Then roller. It hurts less these days, does that mean it is working?

Friday Apr 25

running warm up/down (treadmill) 20:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 2130
Mid morning (watching Ellen's 800th show - could do worse for mid-morning tv). Felt tired during warm-up, then progressively better. Great afterwards!
running tempo (treadmill) 25:00 [4]
shoes: Asics 2130
4 minutes on, 2 minutes off cruise intervals. Only about my third speed session in 9 months, so not bad I guess. I did the first one at 6:52 (barely Tempo, barely warmed up), then the others at 6:48, 6:44 and 6:38 pace. Sad to think I could run a half-marathon faster than that 2 years ago.

ITB/Quad tightened on the last interval. Seemed okay warming down. I'll stretch and strengthen and roll it tonight ... and then see if it hurts during tomorrow's run or not.

Finally got a schedule that suits me (I think) for the next couple of months. Back to Hal Higdon again, as his programs have worked well for me in the past. In honor of my iTB, work, and my family I printed out the Intermediate 'spring training' schedule rather than the expert. Not much difference in mileage, but a bit less speed work. The mileage ranges from 21 (rest week) to 30, which seems totally doable from my current state of fitness. We'll see if having it hanging on the wall helps me to stay organized or not!

Thursday Apr 24

Core Strength (abs and arms) 8:00 [1]
Plus the foam roller (every night this week so far). It seems to hurt less now, does that mean it is working?

I thought I would have more time and energy to train over vacation, but I have less of both. I need to get a steady schedule going ... because the summer is going to be one long vacation.

Wednesday Apr 23

running (treadmill) 27:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2130
Visitors yesterday and today. Got a little run in.
Also have used the new foam roller on the ITB the last 2 nights - it's agony! Hopefully it is working though.

Sunday Apr 20

running (roads) 33:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 3 wide
To meet Wendy ... then took the T to Cambridge and watched the women's marathon trials! It was fantastic!! If only all courses were so spectator friendly.
Humbling too - those women WAY off the back, all alone, looking 'slow' ... well the last one finished in 3:07. I'd take looking that 'slow' any day!!!
