orienteering race (long) 1:05:00 [4]
A great long course. I am out of practice with route choice having run so many short courses lately. Decided to go through to number 2, but then it was so trashy that I bailed to the trail. It made the attack much easier though, so I think it was worth the lost time on route.
At the start of the long leg, 5, I hadn't made a plan and I took a long time standing there - maybe even a minute - looking at left, right and straight. Glad I did, as right had not been my first instinct, but then I realized that there really was very little climb, and the attack was so easy from the trail bend. It was gorgeous running!
Not sure where I lost time on number 6 - I didn't have a specific error. Must just have been slacking off the pace a bit.
Perhaps most proud for nailing number seven. Vague, flattish stuff is not usually my forte.
Pushed as hard as my legs would go at the end. Definitely glad I hadn't run red!
