Day off joining-up run in Somerset. Continuing from yesterday, stomach quite unsettled this morning so started a couple of hours later than intended to give it time to pass.
Parked at Chew Valley lake and did mostly road Chew Stoke, Chew Magna, Stanton Drew, Pensford, Publow and turned around at the top of Publow Hill, returning by a more direct route.
Weather was ok but against the wind all the way back. Overnight rain meant anything muddy was slick so struggling for grip on some of the off-road bits between Chew Magna and Stanton Drew. East of Stanton Drew, footpaths were in good condition and nice to run along. West less so with quite a lot of gates that had been left to nature and took some care to get through in one piece.
Didn't go to the top of Knowle Hill as didn't see a way through the above head deep bracken. Last footpath went through a farm converted to posh houses. Signage was lacking and then when finding the path it was inpenetrable so had little option but to jump the fence and run through the field that appears to have been turned into a pristine lawn - I guess that was their intention?
Lots of people out at the reservoir today.
