Orienteering - Urban race (SWOC Thompson's Park) 41:55 [3] 7.82 km (5:22 / km) +30m 5:16 / km
slept:5.0 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 19

SWOC Street-O from Thompson's Park - although most was in Llandaff/Pontcanna Fields.

Mostly straightforward. Lost 30-40s on 1 - map legibility issues. 2 mins on way to 4 because I was counting junctions but didn't appreciate that a whole road could be missed off the map.

Some nice straight lines in the park - but pace was slow. Exhausted after yesterday (and that's after spending most of yesterday evening lay in bed!).

As per yesterday, had planned to follow up with a jog along the river to close off a few other gaps in my GPS coverage. Tired enough for it to not happen; suppose cutting back on training for a little bit is no bad thing.

Running - off road 1:23:43 [3] 12.19 km (6:52 / km) +590m 5:32 / km
slept:3.5 shoes: inov8 Mudclaw300 Red/Blue

Early start so as to catch Ben walking the SW Traverse route.

Really hot and sunny in the valley but soon into thick cloud on the fells and was a struggle even to make out the "path" in front of you - I just trusted the slightly lighter shade of green as implied where the bog was.

Luckily we did bump into each other as more than a few m off and wouldn't have seen. Continued to the Waun Fach cairn and turned around to close off the gap on my GPS plots map.

Walking 3:00:00 [1] 10.38 km (17:20 / km) +150m 16:10 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw300 Red/Blue

Walking - Pen Allt Mawr, PCC, Table Mountain, Crickhowell

Visibility was terrible, wind pretty strong, and came off PCC in wrong direction (couldn't get maps out to re-fold in the wind) and hit a boulder field. Starting to see colour again by Table Mountain!

Original plan was to keep on to Methyr Common, and then me run back to car via Llangynidr and canal (close off a few more GPS gaps), but the realisation of another couple of days of zero visibility, or a few more hours of my company was enough to make Ben stop there. Given the absolutely massive hill back from Crickhowell to Llanbedr, I was easily persuaded out as well - and happy to accept lift back to car :-)

Nice to get out all the same and avoid another trip across to Cheltenham/Gloucester - and good news that (despite carrying a rucksack) back and shoulder felt fine.

Orienteering - Urban race (Barnwood) 44:55 [3] 8.73 km (5:09 / km) +25m 5:04 / km
slept:3.0 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 19

NGOC street-o around Barnwood. Planned by rickyp.

Planned such that most legs involved long routes, and choices that were often 50-50. Didn't spend much time thinking and just went for one on most.

Not caught out on 8, but went long way on 9-10, and road to 11 seemed faster than across fields as I did (and then lost 20s looking on wrong pair of trees).

Hesitant 12-13 as road I went down just ended - was driveway turned into path that I needed adjacent. Probably took slightly longer route on 21.

In the race to the bottom for the injured, seems I was faster than Ben, although his less tired legs were going quicker than me much of the time. Shoulder feeling better today than it has done.

Orienteering - Urban (BOK Dursley) 48:12 [3] 8.68 km (5:33 / km) +135m 5:09 / km
slept:3.0 (injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 19

BOK urban in Dursley (well, 95% was in Cam)

Back and shoulder not right, but better in second half tonight (after I slowed down *even more*) and managed to get a bit of rhythm. Despite meal last night have been off eating this week and suspect that's not helping - doing better now though.

Much better course than I expected from Dursley and course had plenty of route choice - right from the start kite. Knew after the field that my pace wasn't going to get me a good result so just took routes that went to parts of the map I hadn't been to already, and avoiding dog legs. Of course, these mostly weren't the best routes - but was very enjoyable and found a couple of really lovely tracks that weren't optimum route.

Pleased to see it mapped by someone else as it was a very long way down on my hit list. Alan did a good job with it. Hope he extends it to include the full conurbation over the next few years.

Running - off road (MDC Waun Fach) 1:30:27 [3] 11.58 km (7:49 / km) +675m 6:03 / km
slept:3.0 (injured) shoes: inov8 Mudclaw300 Red/Blue

MDC run from Pengenffordd following Waun Fach route.

Legs mostly ok and jogged all the way at steady pace. Shoulder and back still not so happy with hard running on flat/down. Put in bit of effort up to castle - felt easier than last year.

Nice evening to be out.
