Running 36:58 [3] 7.04 km (5:15 / km) +180m 4:39 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 22 Yellow

Feeling really tired today so spent a lot of it lay in bed. Eventually forced myself out and it felt cold.

Didn't think I was running well - particularly up the last hill, but seems it was my fastest pace on this loop.

Running race (Newport Parkrun) 19:30 [5] 5.0 km (3:54 / km) +15m 3:51 / km
slept:4.0 shoes: inov8 Mudclaw300 Blk/Gn2

Original plan was to go to Cardiff, but legs still not feeling good after Thursday and Duncan hadn't got road shoes with him. Worried all the time about idiots pushing me over from not looking where they are going as per last time I was here. Now running winter route so meant lots more overtaking and opportunities to be knocked over.

Started reasonably quickly and gaining places all the way round - but finding it hard worked and still 20s or so slower than I wanted to be for a hard run. Over a minute behind Matt.

Probably won't be rushing back here again any time soon - don't really like the winter course.

Orienteering (Gwaelod) 1:01:18 [3] 6.83 km (8:59 / km) +330m 7:14 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw300 Blk/Gn2

SWOC local at Gwaelod. Only something like 4th time I've been forest orienteering since busting my ankle last November - and first tired I've not given up part way round due to ankle. Doesn't mean ankle was very happy though...

Physically struggling - particularly uphill.

Time losses
1-2 - went around to the wooden circle but then managed to miss the indistinct path and went down the big one by the fence and back down.
6-7 - left 6 navigating to 8. Fortunately noticed had missed a number and went back up the hill.
9 - not in the right place. going pretty slow through the brambles and not seeing a nice way down strumbled upon control at top the of the slope not bottom.
10 - went around top, probably not the best. Took a while to cross the dip which the path runs along.
16 - didn't find a nice place to cross stream so right round path slowly.
22 - too far south and hit the path.

Maybe take it easy tomorow as feeling quite tired.

Running - off road (Night Sugar course check) 1:02:12 [3] 8.73 km (7:07 / km) +310m 6:03 / km
slept:2.0 shoes: inov8 Mudclaw300 Blk/Gn2

Pre-running the Night Sugar race with Ben to check all the markers still there and less chance for people to get lost as per last year. Sociable.

Warm for wearing a windproof so both stopped to remove them 1/3 of way around. Visibility very poor so ditched the big torch for the old little one in the hand. Sadly can't find my new little one.

Put quite a few extra markers out in 2nd half.

Running - off road (Night Sugar) 43:08 [4] 8.41 km (5:08 / km) +310m 4:20 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw300 Blk/Gn2

We got back with 5 mins to spare and as all my kit was in Ben's car and had to wait for Duncan to finish - on a whim decided to go around again to pass the time on a free "n/c" run.

Pretty tired on the climbs but going much better than I expected and passing lots of people I wouldn't have thought I would. Using the big torch so could see bugger all.

With Dan Sandford at the top and think net gain of places from there to finish.

Running 39:39 [3] 7.3 km (5:26 / km) +140m 4:57 / km
slept:5.0 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 22 Yellow

Long day in work again so wasn't up for full intervals. Was eyeing up the Western Avenue segment so went for that very hard - appears I got it. Pretty wrecked after so took it easy after.

Running intervals (FoDAC) 1:15:50 [3] 10.08 km (7:31 / km) +15m 7:28 / km
slept:4.5 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 22 Yellow

Supposed to be a beep or MAS test today rather than normal intervals. Got some army PT instructor in to run it.

First part was 5 min of 20m shuttles. Despite being very poor at decelerating, did well to qualify for the "53" club with Chloe and Cory - with only 2 people getting more in.

Second part I think we didn't get. Distances based on our scores in first part so handicapped, running between beeps with distance increasing. Significantly more rest than effort so ended up being very social.

To get the distance up afterwards Cory and me went out onto the streets for an easy jog around Berry Hill - and didn't get lost. Some bits were pretty dark.

Maybe do some intervals/hill reps tomorrow to feel like I've got some in - no Forest Thursday this week due to helping at Sugar Loaf.
