Square filling, and joining up my two clusters.

Parked in Underwood and ran a loop to Llanwern, Bishton, Willcrick and back along the B road. A nothing special run with a long section that is quite unforgettable other than Pete Ribbans driving past. It's not a run I'm going to rush back to repeat.

More keyworker cyclists than keyworker car drivers crossing the border at Willcrick. Was a bit concerned the k without a pavement would be very unpleasant.

Staying within the bounds of lockdown and running from Penhow to Llanvaches and up to Wentwood. Went and tapped the sign for Monmouthshire but didn't go beyond, just surprised at the number of keyworker cyclists going past (and cars too, but I suppose it's a lot quieter than usual).

Lots more undulations than expected coming back down, but coped with it ok. Added on an extra hill at the end to get the trig. Hopefully just the one run left to get the clusters joined.

Made an effort to get out in daylight to do Gaer for first time in 7 weeks. Again a faster than expected run, despite the wind. And again quite cold (12C feels like 5) so not one for hanging around.

Western Ave + Ridgeway loop. Going fairly steady so surprised at first km time, so carried on the rest of the way continuing the pace, and it didn't feel hard. May be to do with the refreshing temperature?

Hastily arranged afternoon off work for my last trip out ahead of lockdown. And given lockdown here comes in when the weekly infection rate is relatively low (39 per 100,000) it's going to be a very long time before it gets appreciably lower... that said, I don't totally disagree with the order for local lockdown here (but reserve the right to be pissed off if the rules don't apply to Cardiff!), and we've seen it coming for so long that we've had time to get used to the idea and make the most of the good weather to get out whilst we still could.

Over to Chepstow to tick off 3 more squares - Cockshoot, Great Barnets and St Pierre's woods, all totally new to me. I thought there's a good reason why orienteering stopped going to them but whatever the reason, it's not obvious. Barnets is a bit variable but has several nice bits, Cockshoot and St Pierre's has decent areas of fast run, and not much grot - in the bits I saw. Good path networks and found a technical single track in Barnets which may or may not have been the one Vanessa suggested.

Odd problem with the watch today - it was plotting the route correctly but not the distance. Noticed when at about 1km in that was only showing 550m - so stopped the activity and started a new one, that was still showing 0.00km distance after 150m run. Third time lucky worked, but as it was in pissing about mode meant I was stopped for 9 minutes. First activity is consistently offset by 10m so seems it went wrong when initially locating.

Time running out now so the easy run from home planned for today will have to wait for another day. Also assuming that overnight stays in England will stop being allowed tomorrow so may not be able to extend my freedom if I wanted to.

Out to Llandegfedd reservoir to get a loop in before the sun set. Very hot and sweaty - won't be many more of these days. They now lock the top car park at 5pm - which means 10ft high gates across the marked trail. Got there the same time as a runner going to other way to helped eachother around in the barbed wire and undergrowth.

Right knee feeling a bit sore after bashing it when climbing over a tree before Redbrook yesterday. Always find my knee plays up on this route, I guess from the camber.
