7k loop on a surprisingly warm day. Not going hard for most but pace was good and wanted to stick it at the end and beat 30 minutes.

Some maniacs on the road today - car driving at double the speed limit up Western Avenue, overtaking two cars including the one turning right, and nearly hit a 4x4 coming out of Melbourne Way at the same time. Thought I might have to stop a bit but they just somehow missed each other. Then, 300 yards further up there was a cyclist merrily riding down, completely on the wrong side of the road and oblivious to the cars driving up... People really are stupid. Makes the pricks on the top of the Ridgeway who see you but lack the mental capability to link seeing a person approaching to the reality that they are actually heading in your direction pale into insignificance.

At least lockdown will be over tomorrow so the pavements should be quiet again.

Started later than I wanted as watch wouldn't located so had to go back in and resync.

Didn't really feel like going back to the other side of town but did so as I only live once. Future visits may be from big tesco once allowed to again.

Once down, pace reasonably good - into the wind heading out and behind coming back helped. There are actually hills over here if you look hard enough.

Right foot feeling very hard for the last 4k. Shoes need more time to break in so may keep it short tomorrow - only 0.5km off the week's target anyway.

Weighed myself today as looking a bit fat. 0.8kg lighter than I was before the initial lockdown which isn't too bad given I spend all day sat on the sofa eating chocolate biscuits.

Another easy run. Shoes uncomfortable for first 3k but getting a bit more ok towards the end.

Made up the route as I went again. Cycle track was very busy with people, but still no working lights at the top under the trees. Then onto the Ridgeway which was quieter than last night, but still lots of people not looking where they are going.

Nice to have a short run for a change.

Running 48:56 [3] 10.42 km (4:42 / km) +190m 4:18 / km

First run in the new trainers, not quite got the lacing quite right as was too loose then digging in on left foot.

Short loop became reasonably long, but nice to keep different routes each day. Ridgeway was busier than I've ever seen it with families desperate to see some fireworks and less concerned about social distancing.

Went walking to see the fireworks after (which were pretty good), before getting cold and deciding it would be just as effective to sit on the sofa and look out the window. Then I got bored. With all the doom-mongering it's quite reassuring that so many people, quite literally, have money to burn.

Managed a bit of Riverfront but mostly Ridgeway. The odometer clicked over 1,000 at the top and anything beyond was bonus miles for the shoes which may well have a short or inactive retirement.

The guy who lives around the corner and runs was just starting out as I came in to finish so matched his pace for the 50 yards before he turned the other way. Not sure if he was going purposely fast as I reeled him in quite well down Risca Road last Friday without seriously trying.

More easy miles. Was supposed to be looping the Riverfront but that didn't feel like much fun. Wiggling around Gaer to guarantee getting over 10k - which was achieved without really going anywhere. Reasonable elevation too.

Need to think about getting the new shoes out of the box soon.

Running 47:41 [3] 10.34 km (4:37 / km) +180m 4:15 / km

7k loop with various additions to make 10k. As per today, weather turning very quickly so started out with clear skies and then sodden by torrential rain by the first k. Wind also pretty strong when blowing.

Still good to get out, and add some bonus distance. Definitely counting down now.

Lacking confidence with grip on the cycle path - leaf mulch and mud that's washed on to it. Also the small bit of footpath in the Allt yr yn campus estate has now got it's final surface and the water just sits on top - very smooth.
