Not much to do today, nor much willingness. Went for getting the annoying square that's on its own in Llanbradach- but as the weather really turned as I parked in Ystrad was regretting the choice somewhat.

After 20 mins sat in the car decided the weather wasn't going to improve - and had another 10 mins standing around getting soaked as the watch wanted to piss about today. Was about an inch of water across the car park at this end as the drains couldn't cope - but to be fair by the time I got to Lidl it had pretty much stopped - but still windy. Dry until coming back past the hospital, when I hid in a bus shelter to put jacket back on.

As said, watch was pissing about today and not behaving with being covered by jacket sleeve - explains why I had to do so much extra distance at the end to get the same distance as outward.

Next squares run - Blackwood to Pen y Fan pond. Not running particularly hard but it got me around - and enough to bag a trig, finish a 12x12 mile square, and add a couple more k of Sirhowy walk.

Nothing super exciting though, and the off road bits were pretty wet and not really suited to trainers.

Very windy, and drizzly, but the weather didn't turn properly foul until I was doing my shopping after.

Wanted an easier run so made a 3k route to the top of the Ridgeway for an out and back. Once at the top there was a quickish runner on the other payment so matched his speed and diverted to use him as a pacer. The overtook and pace went up again - but still an easier run than I would have managed otherwise.

Shortish loop again. Feeling tired and finding the wind hard work today. Lots of people blocking pavements so had to divert off Bassaleg Road and quite a lot of slowing down for dog walkers elsewhere.

Most of the cycle track lights were on but a big block in the middle weren't. One day...

The £30 I found the other day still hasn't been claimed - nor blown away.

No lockdown - so first day off work for 2 months - and the first time I've been more than 8 miles from home since then too.

Parked at the Aneurin Bevan memorial stones and filled in the 6 squares here - to the edge of Rassau then track across to Trefil and back down the road. Knew it was going to be windy and hard, but this was the next run in the schedule for September before things got stopped.

Put in a reasonable effort up the hill at the end - and have the KOM, no idea how much by as some wimp has flagged it as dangerous. There's a pavement all the way, and at uphill speeds plenty of visibility for crossing roads - so I guess it's just some knob who got upset when they were beaten once... Neither the stony track to Trefil (trip hazards), nor the road back down (no pavement, corners with low visibility...) were flagged despite being more obviously "dangerous"...

Did a bit of a walk up the hill afterwards, trying to use tracks that the dirt bikes don't go on - got back to the car the same time as Keri and Pauline appeared from their run down the other side of the road.

A few productive meetings today. I got to wheel out my "they are numbered 12 apart on a base 11 system" phrase again that sums up the last month's work. We still don't feel that the production teams have any interest in learning the intricacies so predicting it'll all fall apart when the project's over and we're out of it!

Couldn't stomach running from home again so tied in running with shopping to do a bit of Lliswerry, Alway, Ringland and link up the heatmap a bit more.

Not going hard at all, but getting a bit tired of it by the end. Some more dark bits - places where there's no lamp-post and then a run of 6 in a row that were out. But the new cycle path by home was fully lit when I drove out...

Pavements around Ringland not been vacuumed yet, and I suspect they won't bother. They did my road and the road to the park whilst I was walking at lunch - but seemed to miss £30 which I easily resisted the temptation to pocket and put on the side wall under a stone in the hope the owner comes back for it before someone else does.

In the dark - so got to get used to the hopeless street lighting and may give in and start taking a torch to see the pavements (but I said this last winter too...). Whilst there is much reduced light pollution, this is because there is much reduced light, and with lamp-posts spread out to the minimum and several not working means you are in the dark quite a lot. Perversely the new cycle track is probably better lit than anything else!

On the plus side, seen two council teams out with their pavement vacuum cleaners so there should be less leaf litter and muck to look out for.

Short loop at steady pace, but felt hard towards the end. No maniacs out - but they'd have been hard pressed to get anywhere as the traffic was so bad - good 1/2 mile queue for High Cross Road. Still Boris doesn't talk about building a bypass for this, maybe because it'd be useful to the Welsh.

Added the circle on at the end to make a bit more distance. Went back out after to do some gardening on a hedge that's now overhanging too much.
