Not feeling good today so had to cut short and skip out the cycle path. Just pleased to get back ok.

Running 1:04:32 [3] 14.21 km (4:32 / km) +310m 4:06 / km

Thought today would be a good time to run for longer than an hour - first time I think since Goldcliff at the start of December (ignoring the snow day as that didn't feel like running).

Pace a fair bit slower than usual, unsure what the right pace is for "long" runs now - but there was also a reasonable amount of climb.

Stomach cramping on descents from 5k onwards but managed to get around, which is good.

Running 31:21 [3] 7.15 km (4:23 / km) +115m 4:03 / km

Bit of a mix up of usual routes to avoid a load of dog crap. Going for 7k and it worked out just about right. Wind really was quite nasty when going directly in to it - hence kept the return fairly straightforward today.

Took about 30s of jogging down Bassaleg Road before I was being blinded by badly set/overly bright headlights - it’s the reason why I switched Western Avenue loop for the Ridgeway through the winter, so the cars approach from behind rather than headlight-on.

Started out easyish but reasonable effort later on - although running against the wind was never easy. Think the legs were feeling like yesterday’s run was quite hard.

HR recording was fairly good for the first half, which I wasn’t expecting as it behaved yesterday. Then was completely off towards the end staying in the 120-130s when I would have expected 159-170s (and higher still at the end)

Same route as yesterday but with watch recording the whole time.

Wind was stronger so had to put in some effort to fight it. Consistent effort so fairly good pace in the end.

Raining throughout, but nothing like as heavy as I was expecting it to be - may have timed it well.

Usual Ridgeway loop via Risca Road and not the cycle path. Watch having a strop today in deciding it only had 3% charge left at the 2k point (it was 17% when I started) and was in sulk mode from then until just before the end when it would just give me the clock and disabled the buttons.

I wouldn’t be so annoyed if it genuinely was out of charge - it would be due to late tonight - but it decided it had 8% towards the end of the run and restored functions, like second hand on clock and backlight, and is sitting on 10% now without any charging (and 10% is what it should be on based on when I last charged). I hope it doesn’t fuck about any more.

On the plus side, Strava only thinks my fitness has decreased by just over 50% since peaking 2 years ago.

Running 44:09 [3] 10.11 km (4:22 / km) +180m 4:01 / km
slept:7.5 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 23 LBlue

Another fairly easy day. Started out in daylight and warm. Ridgeway as always but a few extra bits here and there. Started looking like distance would be close to 10k so did a bit more looping to add distance - longest weekday run of the year. Pleased as motivation is really hard to build up when on your own and running in the same places as you have done for at least 8 of the last 12 months.
