Back on the streets to make sure I hit the annual target - still well ahead but nearby opportunities are a lot less than they were. Also looking at which squares need filling in - and LLantwit Fardre hole hitting my continuous cluster metric so opted to go there.

Dry/drizzle, not a lot of rain, nor any sun - which I guess is the best possible weather when it's so humid. Had a route marked out, and wasn't sure some of the OSM paths existed (they didn't) - so nearly all was dead ends - and only one way in/out of the first estate I went into (which had massive houses).

Quite a lot of hills - but made for good views over to Garth and Craig yr Allt. Legs and feet feeling a bit broken today so didn't add on the third estate as would be further 3km. Narrowly avoided the heavy rain.

Second time lucky for doing the awkward section Pewsey-Tidworth. This time stayed on the road rather than get caught by the closed footpaths - though no evidence that any work has actually started other than scaffolding/netting across the road.

Fairly long period on road early on - passed reasonably quickly but not a lot of fun. Then byway and lanes across to Collingbourne Woods. The short detour to get the overlap wasn't great - woods were wet and overgrown so sections became slow walk. Bit surprised to find a castle coming into Ludgershall.

Generally more little undulations than I was expecting, but a lot more vertical towards the end. Kept going up the road but had to have a drink stop half way up the last track.

Have now broken the back of the runs down to Salisbury. Remaining 3 legs shorter and more straighforward.

Woodcroft MapRun. Busy day of work and maybe tired from yesterday - so not really prepped for this or feeling it. Pretty sluggish.

Wanted to go for an explore but insufficient points for it to be worth dropping down to the river - so a lot of overlap with previous runs.

Some fields were good, some very deep veg, some roughened and wet from cows. Progress was pretty slow.

Might have just had time for at least 2 of the 3 checkpoints in Tutshill but didn’t feel like trying and went straight to finish. Covered nearly all of the off road bits, with almost none in urban areas - so, an explore.

Sea Mills urban. Good course with lots of route choice decisions though came close to missing it all with the hole right next to the flag at control 1. Spotted in time so didn’t stack it.

Didn’t feel like I was moving fast, especially off road, but the hills passed quite quickly even if not easily. Spent quite a lot of the course working out what to do for some of the later legs, and used the time out to scope the second map.

Surprised how wet and muddy it was - definitely slowed me down a bit and maybe should have taken more roady routes.

Around the canal and then back over the Ridgeway. Traffic bad as apparently a crash on Bassaleg Road. Also lots of police and flashing lights filling the road just beyond the gypsy camp - but they waved me through.
