got in the pool just as the rain stopped. swam 15x100, in which the last 10 were with flippers.

felt a hint of shin splints on left leg after interval run yesterday so i was going to give it a rest today but G went for a jog in the backbay and i couldn't resist. decided to do a super ez run with lots of stretches before and after. enjoyed this run tremendously, breathed cool air, looked at the water, and watched people passing me one after another!

note: HR was all over the place and high again during the 1st mile (150-160!!). it settled down quite a bit and became more steady mile 2 and 3 (< 140).

practiced running on ball of feet. HR was better today. felt good but started to get heartburn by mile 3, had to stop watch, walked it out a bit.

swam right after run. really enjoyed today's session in the pool. discovered something new, i pressed my chest down so my feet would float up more and the kick felt easier and lighter, not sure if i was going faster though, didn't time myself.

i didn't feel like swimming today but i got myself to the pool. felt sluggish. goggles were leaking. pool got super crowded. note to self, need to get there earlier in the day.

a few things worth noting. 1, i was going at a very comfortable pace and breathing was steady, but HR was off the charts. it was particularly erratic during warm up as it shot up to 182. after the first mile, HR settled a bit but it continued to be higher than usual. 2, i felt great, could have ran for miles upon miles. and lastly, i consider myself completely cured of shin splints, YES! there was no pain whatsoever during the entire run on pavement and i even wore the zoots, without insoles!
