| Run (treadmill) 20:00 [3] 2.2 mi (9:05 / mi) | ||
| ahr:155 max:167 shoes: Brooks | ||
| Treadmill at the hotel - although it was pouring outside, probably should have just gone out for a real run. Probably would have run for a longer time. | ||
Monday Aug 28 | ||
| Run intervals (track) 3:30 [4] 0.6 mi (5:49 / mi) | ||
| ahr:158 max:175 shoes: Nike Air Assail Trail | ||
| 100 pace intervals on the track - ~ 1:10 each
~2:00 recovery between. Getting dark, so stopped at 3 to give myself time to get home before I started tripping over the uneven sidewalks. Then again, maybe that would be good training for night-O. Moving along on what you assume to be a fairly smooth even surface, then WHAM - a tree pops up right where you wer heading.
| Run warm up/down (pavement) 30:00 [2] | ||
| shoes: Nike Air Assail Trail | ||
| Down to the track and back.
Trying out my new gizmo from FRWD - GPS, altimeter, gathers heartrate from my monitor (supposedly). It comes with only a serial port connector, which of course my laptop doesn't have. Need to pick up a serial to USB adapter. I think I have to change some setting so it will receive readings from my Timex heart rate monitor belt. Also need to be able to plug it into my laptop and download the info to see how far and how hard it thought I was running.
Sunday Aug 27 | ||
| Run long (trails) 56:00 [2] 10 km (5:36 / km) +150m 5:13 / km | ||
| ahr:155 max:165 shoes: Nike Air Assail Trail | ||
| At Gunstock, light drizzle increasing to steady rain.
Cobble Mtn, Rock Loop, to s end trails, back aloing the high trail, cutover (kinda muddy) back to Cobble and back. Went past a group on horseback, and later a group hiking - heading to Round Pond? Not a lot of zip, but kept up a steady pace for the most part.
Wednesday Aug 23 | ||
| Run (pavement) 3:36:00 [3] 4.0 mi (53:59 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Brooks | ||
| mid 70s, a bit humid.
Feeling inspired by the tales of derring-do out in Wyoming and Colorado, I opt to once again start the (long) journey back to getting my self in some semblance of reasonable shape. 4 mile loop from the hotel. Minor twinges just below my right knee cap, seems to go away once I get a bit warmed up. Not much speed, but I keep plugging along.
| C • Way to go, and good luck at st... 1 | ||
Tuesday Aug 22 | ||
| Canoeing 40:00 [1] | ||
| At Saltmarsh Pond with Tim. Nice evening - not much breeze, no bugs.
Lots of minnows darting around and jumping out of the water all around us - pretty cool.
Monday Aug 21 | ||
| Run intervals (trails) 8:00 [4] | ||
| shoes: Nike Air Assail Trail | ||
| 6 x 100 paces - about 1:10 - 1:20 each
slow jog or walk in between At Ahern bike trails over by the industrial park section - lots of twisting and turning
| Run (trails) 32:00 [2] | ||
| shoes: Nike Air Assail Trail | ||
| Warm up & cool down and just going some places I haven't been in a while.
Cool enough that I'm not overly tempted to stop for a quick dip before heading back to the car.
Tuesday Aug 15 | ||
| Run warm up/down (trails) 35 [2] 3 km (12 / km) +100m 10 / km | ||
| shoes: Nike Air Assail Trail | ||
| At Ahern.
Took a dip at the beach afterwards - absolutely beautiful. Pretty stiff breeze coming off the water, but it wasn't that cold.
| Run intervals (trails) 15:00 [4] 2.0 mi (7:30 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Nike Air Assail Trail | ||
| Intervals at Ahern - pace count of 100 - about 1:10 - 1:15 each, 12 repetitions
mostly on the small bike trail loop off the trail down to the industrial park, a few on the bike trail inside the main loop. First speed work in a while - felt OK.
Sunday Aug 13 | ||
| Hiking 7:00:00 [3] ** 10.0 mi (42:00 / mi) +1425m 18:05 / km | ||
| shoes: Merrill Hikers | ||
| Mt Washington with Tim & Jon - from Pinkham Notch, up Boott Spur and over to Lake of the Clouds Hut, then up to the summit and down via Tuckermans Ravine.
mid 60s when we started, warmed up pretty fast, then hit treeline. Could hear the wond howling through the treetops as we went up, then it hit us full blast. Estimate 60-70 mph winds out of the northwest on the uppper parts of Boott Spur, summit was in clouds, although the rest of the views were spectacular. Pretty good head wind across Davis Path and Camel Trail, 37 F and 44 mph winds at Lake of the Clouds - thankful to be able to get in out of the wind. Not too bad heading up Crawford path to the summit, wind quartering from behind. Lots of flat-landers at the summit. Temp was 32.7 with winds at 50, gusts up to 60 mph. On the way down my knees took a real beating. Coming down through Tuckermans was brutal, but beautiful. Trail below the shelters was wide, but lots of loose rocks. Tim and Jon kept pulling ahead. Must be my advanced age....
Saturday Aug 12 | ||
| Run (Pavement) 15:00 [2] 1.7 mi (8:49 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Brooks | ||
| Short slow run to works the kinks out. Left knee bothering me a bit, along with my right ankle. | ||
| Walking 40:00 [1] | ||
| Mowing the lawn after the short run - knee was fine doing this, no problems with the ankle either.
Nice day out. | ||
