Run hills (trails) 1:06:30 [3] ** 7.5 km (8:52 / km) +375m 7:06 / km
ahr:145 max:163 shoes: VJ Spikes 1
Exploring the MT Rowe part of Gunstock.

Thought the trail up to the ridge top went from the ski slope that is still mowed, but bushwhacked up and up and up, finally hitting just below the large tower. There's a ski trail down form the tower that links into the far right trail coming off Gunstock. Followed the ridge trail along until it also links up with the downhill trails , then reversed, past the tower again. The trail (Rowe's Revenge) continues down the ridge line, finally plunging off the east side and into a confusing area of more trails than are on the XC ski map.
It has some possibilities as an O map, there is some nice terrain along the hill side. Nice place for a Billygoat??

Control pickup at Gunstock - some snow cover left but a lot of bare spots also.
A couple of submorons had been out on ATVs on the trails, tearing up the couple of sections that would have still been skiable for a few more days.
40 F, overcast and drizzling- perfect weather for a run...

Sunday Mar 25

Orienteering race (Sprint-O) 29:30 [4] *** 4.8 km (6:09 / km) +40m 5:54 / km
ahr:158 max:167 spiked:5/7c shoes: '05 Integrator Hightops
Sprint 1 at Mine Falls - 4.8 km running distance, about 40 m total climb per the GPS thingy.

Conditions ranged from nice dry trails to 3" of slush over mud. Sun was out, which helped a lot.

Mine Falls tends to have way too much trail run, but I was thankful for the flatness.
Orienteering race 33:34 [4] *** 5.2 km (6:27 / km) +60m 6:06 / km
ahr:161 max:172 spiked:6/7c shoes: '05 Integrator Hightops
Sprint 2 at Mine Falls

5.2 Km and 60 m climb per GPS. MOre sluch and more mud.
Bad route choice, or rather lack of route choice from 1-2. Really should have looked at the map and seen there was a stream right in the way. ended up going to the right and over the foot bridge.

Saw John F coming out of 3 as I headed towards 2. Saw Ernst behind me as I headed into 4, then he caught me right at 5. He pulled ahead and disappeared, then I saw him again in a minute or so, headed back where we'd come from. Comment in passing was that he'd missed 4.

Kept pushing more than I thought I could, a good trail workout.
