Distance estimated - forgot my Garmin.
Snowing pretty good - 2-4" pf fresh on top of recently groomed from the last dump. Ski/wax combo working well.
Right hip twinging a bit now and then - experimenting with varying angle of knee and calf and how far off the line I set the ski on that side. Not debilitated yet.

Face iced up pretty good - lots of ice on mustache and beard. Was dressed just about right - 1 thicker layer on the bottom - melted and iced up on the front. 2 thinner thermal layers on top and a windbreaker - adjusted the zipper to regulate. Some fogging of glasses and flip down goggles - OK when I was moving.
A grand adventure.

Good session at Carter Hill Orchard in Concord. First time skiing there - pretty good setup, unless there's wind - not a lot of cover on top of the hill and just short trimmed apple trees to "block" the wind.
Some nice straights with gentle up/down, and a couple nice hills.

8+ km, then switched to a shorter skate session.

XC Ski - Skate 21:15 intensity: (21 @0) + (1:31 @1) + (16:14 @2) + (3:09 @3) 3.8 km (5:36 / km) +32m 5:22 / km

Had initially thought of skating for as long as the classic session, but too cold and running out of energy.
Trails a little soft in places, but good for V2 alt. Focus on gentle technique, weight transfer and glide.
Felt good, other than cold, especially into the wind, and running out of steam.

RV Farms - breaking some trail after the dump of beautiful white stuff today. Estimating 10-12" - forgot my ruler.
Temps dropping - down to 12F when I was done. Some breeze - glad to keep moving.

Sub optimal day skiing with the kids. School cancelled due to the threat of snow/sleet/ice. No word that ski session was cancelled, but we were the only one there (other than Nina's car). Got geared up and did some skiing around, which wasn't too bad 1-2" of powder on top of good base, until we got down to the bottom of the hill on the Cobble Mtn trail beside Poor Farm Brook - close to no base under it. Ryan was struggling on the uphills, with the ice underneath. On the last wall back up to the rest of the main trails, he couldn't get an edge and was on his hands and knees not getting anywhere. Wasn't able to get him focused on things he could do to get up the hill. Meanwhile Jen was up top being a pill...

Headed back in from there - saw Nina and 1 GNA junior back at the clubhouse. Would have been a good day for all the kids - just get out and ski with fresh snow falling all around.
